It was great I was so proud when they made it into the main stage of MAMA (they performed run)
I thought to myself they finally made it, I didn't know that it was only the beginning
Also since I didn't really care much about the fan culture I remained totally oblivious about the fanwars ....so it was peacfull

They got attention from the i-community when they debuted and many started supporting from the beginning (me included).
Their debut was one of the best on that year (the most memorable imo) and many considered them as a promising groups, but never on the level we see these days - think about reaching a midtier level max, since the Big 3 mentality was huge back then.
Since they were from a small agency, many would call them flops/nugus and many belittled their achievements for a very long time.
Army is a very hardworking fandom since day 1. They'd talk about BTS with their friends, family, people on the internet to promote their music.
"Any ARMY here?" on random YT videos started to become a "meme" on the Army community, that was a lowkey way to promote them, as well as asking for countless YT reacting channels to check their music (now see how much that worked!).
Long story short, they were considered a small group who would never reach a #1 level, but ARMY believed on their dreams and made that happen with appreciation and effort.

Ever since other fans have started to notice BTS as a "threat" there has been non-stop sabotage against them, but now that the fandom became huge it drowned out the hate, yet it still continues

K-Pop fans were brutal back then. Accusing them of things like plagiarism because they wore school uniforms - like come on. Also I felt that the fanwars were worse than they are now. These days you have safe spaces but back then this whole thing with the petition happened and my whole timeline was on fire

It was baaad - Blue House petition, Western validation, Paper Award, Nazi thing etc among the many things

I love it how some people acted like those things never existed. I remember how hard we armys had to work to make things less tough for BTS.
I also love it when random Kpop stan(s) tell us that BTS/Army are being arrogant for saying BTS is not Kpop without knowing the background stories ....just love it

I particularly remember fans of 3 groups, or in particular, 2 of the big 3 company stans. Their nastiness and toxicness still gives me the shivers until today. Outright attacking BTS, the defamation, lies etc..
Nowadays, BTS is too big for them to tackle and ARMY always uses facts against them, so they can only "shade" BTS.
Oh, but there are still some few brave ones left.
