Do people not get how big being GRAMMY NOMINATED is especially when you're Asian?
-
-
-
bts achievements are their own not kpop's
i dont see how this means that other kpop acts have a chance to be nominated lol
Who would've thought that a KPOP would be nominated? Atleast now they know they have a chance.
And if you're not aware, KPOP is not that popular in Korea because most Koreans think KPOP is beneath them (I have Korean cousins and aunts) But the first Asian performer to be nominated is a KPOP act. Do you even get what this implies?
-
-
It is a big deal.
The problem is that it's so common for Kpop fans to bash anyone that isn't their favs instead of supporting them and it's gross.

Some of them won’t ever enjoy it because they are salty and jealous. It’s music at the end of the day and pure enjoyment but not for everyone. On the old forum, some rabid fans wanted to see another group getting a Grammy Nomination before BTS just for them to not be the first. It’s time to get a life.

IKR? Crazy, seriously. Imagine how much those fans hate BTS and ARMY to become delulu like that.
-
KPop fans should be happy to know that there is a possibility of their faves being nominated, but instead they bash BTS. Why is that?
Don't you know? BTS is the most bashed group here. Anything, just to undermine BTS😑
-
I have never took Grammys or Eurovision seriously I feel like it is more like political event.
-
It is a big deal.
Truth is their fandom has made it hard for other fans to appreciate it. I know this isn't fair and it shouldn't be happening, but it is.
Anyway, Congratulations to BTS
And here we go with the big bad fandom narrative...
-
-
-
I get it when people said grammy is more of a political event these days... but isn't that means what they achieve is the more impressive? BTS never joins US label (only distribution deal with Columbia) and not even from the US, never got any favor from American music industry (see their number of radio spins).
So.. I dont know why the narrative now is that grammy noms means nothing. to largely supported artists from powerful us labels maybe, but not BTS. whatever happens, I'm proud of them.

You are absolutely correct. It makes the nomination more bitter sweet because of how insanely difficult it is for BTS to get it. They had to climb over mountains and mountains. So many institutional, industrial, and racial hurdles. For all of its flaws, the Grammy is still the most prestigious music award show there is and not a single Asian artist has EVER been nominated in the non-classical categories. It’s a historic moment and these Kpop fans are seriously too salty and jealous to see.

Yes we know your intentions

The Grammys are a big deal. Artists bash them yet cry their eyes out when they win or bash them more when they lose. It's true that the Grammys are biased but no one can deny that they are prestigious and being nominated is an achievement in itself, let alone winning.
I guess BTS wasn't hyped like expected because they were just nominated. I bet the Korean media will have a field day the day they win. Their attitude will change for sure.
As for the Kpop community, the Grammys will matter the day their faves get nominated. Since it's BTS, then the Grammys don't matter lol

Gonna assume you mean Asian from Asia, because Bruno Mars has won AOTY & plenty other Grammys
Jhene Aiko has an AOTY nom this year + H.E.R has multiple noms & a win!
Norah Jones swept winning AOTY, ROTY, SOTY PVA, and PSP and she’s half Indian.
Just to make a few
-
The only minor issue is how people are saying the Grammys don't mean anything anymore. There still are even lesser known artists and groups who get their acknowledgement and I am pleased to find out when they do.
-
Oh they know...Trust me they know. That's the very reason why it's so downplayed and dismissed. Because they know.
.
-
Honestly when youre not american it loses a lot of value.
-

Oscar more like political event. Grammy is messier

Yes we know your intentions
Hey KID, Stop acting like you know me.

why???

why???
Grammy is rewarding english releases for the most part, which exclude basically 90% of the songs. It is a bad representation of what happened in the music industry, especially nowadays.

You act like we haven't seen you around shading for months lmao

oooh okay. gotcha. but wouldn't it be the other way around then? it loses meaning when you're from the US but for artists from non-english speaking country it holds more value considering how rare it is to be recognized?? they compete with the whole world to get to grammy. meanwhile, US artists only need to compete with other english speaking artists

Then that makes it even more impressive to beat them on their home turf

Yes but if I didn't care in the first place it is not the biggest achievement. If BTS come and wins in my country now were talking.
-
You act like we haven't seen you around shading for months lmao
Where's the shade? I would like to see legit proof. Come back, when you got some KID.

I already quoted some in the thread and I don't need to link threads from old AKP you know what you like to do

I guess kpoppies are taking a note from their faves in not congradulating BTS on this unrivaled historic achievement.
All their Jealousy and daily BTS downplaying won't change the reality that BTS is now more relevant than kpop combined.
The grammy nomination alone makes them saltier than the dead sea sis. Praying for a positive result this March.
-
me basking on their tears
-
I think it's hilarious how other kpoppies groups are probably dreaming of meeting artists that BTS has met at BBMA, AMA, Grammys etc and know about BTS.
Political or not, although I do agree it's full of politics, just the fact that they're even in these conversations among the musical world and their peers should be enough.
They bring up endorsements and whatever else they can think of as if to diminish BTS achievements because they cannot handle reality.
It's really all just delusions and jealousy of what their idols could never..
