I use discord. Gamers use discord. Lots of people use discord. I have a server on there where all my friends are so we can talk together whenever we want. It's like Skype but better because there's video calling, voice calling, and screen sharing. The servers have multiple different voice and text channels that are active at all times. It's a great place to build a community under some common interest, like a fanbase or a group of people who play a certain game. I use discord (better discord plugins) to talk with people while I'm gaming with them. It's really useful and I think it's the best communication platform out there.

Only to communicate while gaming. I love action combat games and typing tends to be a bit of a hassle mid-fight.

I never chat on discord though. The first thing I do upon joining a server is mute all chat channels.
