how do you pronounce (G)I-DLE

I say g-idle, but Koreans say (yeoja)-idle

i used to call it gidle, now i call it g-idle

gee - eye- doll

g idol

I know it’s Idle

But my mind - Gidle

i say idle

I still pronounce it g-idle in my head even though I know it's idle.

I always thought it was G-Idle. Am I wrong

When I first audibly heard the name I thought it was G that stood for girl and Idle was spelt like Idol so it was like Girl Idol

It actually does. The (G) is (yeoja = girl) in Korean. But the I-dle does not mean Idol.

In Korean they usually say only idle. But I've heard them saying their full name yeoja-idle a few times.

I figured out that last part later but I just heard their name audibly first so the first thing that came to mind was idol I guess just homophones

Idle is written as 아이들 (aideul) while idol is written as 아이돌 (aidol). It's a different vowel. But they're close, so for non Korean speakers it may sound the same. eu is like good and o is like domino.

Oh okay! Thanks for the clarification. Korean vowels confuse me sometimes. It's like that especially to international fans. The "eo" vowel used to confuse me. Not anymore but I used to think Jeongyeon's name was pronounced "Ji-yong-e-uhn" now I know it's simply pronounced "Jung-yun"

I remember looking at older Twice videos with not many new comments and the old ones that were talking about Jeongyeon spelt her name like "Jungyeon" all the time
