BTS made up 85% of BigHits money last year. That income flow is not going to last forever, and you will not replace it with idol music alone. So they are diversifying ASAP while they got the income to hopefully sustain once BTS starts dropping

And USA is the largest market, if you can get in you might aswell

HYBE wants to establish an America-focused group in 2020. When this happens, it is good to have good people on hand who can push and promote the group. All these preparations are for this new band rather than for BTS.
