It isn't BTS comeback season without billboard changing their rules beforehand. YouTube streams no longer count to the BB charts starting January

Do they mean video streams? Or does this include YouTube Music? If it's the former, then I agree, if it's the latter... uhhh... wtf

YouTube said BB doesnt count all streams fairly (subscription, non subscription, ad supported...) and thus they are pulling out and won't provide any data to billboard

Is kpop going to be in trouble with the billboard changes? I think YouTube is a major is a major platform that helped kpop groups chart in North America. I wonder if this will make people subscribe to Apple Music more because their streams holds more weight it seems. I think it's going to be tougher for kpop groups to chart, but I guess fandoms can still help by using platforms such as apple music.
Hopefully this doesn't affect YouTube music because a lot of people use that platform

it doesn't make difference tho
era of mass streaming MV's is over
era of mass ads supported MV's is over

Well kpop groups mostly rely on spotify and sales nowadays but we'll see.

Even kpop groups/artists aren’t doing so well on YouTube the last artist who outperformed on YouTube is rosé with APT.

Babymonster does way better on youtube comparative to other platforms, this'll kill their chances at billboard charting for a while.

I don't know about their new videos but the older views were heavily heavily bought. Were they charting with those numbers? Like did the paid streams count.

Paid streams don't count for charts

Wtf does that have to do with bts? Yall just be centering them in anything
It doesn't have. Before reading it i thought it had. Here's the issue with billboard's transparency, not the other way around. They are right. Payola is acceptable but ads aren't.

It's good.
Artists shouldn't invest too much on MVs, it's just pointless. There are better promotion tactics out there in 2025+.
I stopped caring about MVs after getting into kpop many years ago because these were super boring.
It's not about mvs only but YouTube Music. In my country YouTube Music is the most popular music platform. Eta: or at least i think YM is inckuded6here6
