The benefit is that she gets to cameo on a song that she probably thinks it's good.

I don't think every move carried out by an idol should be designed to maximise stats to make forum-dwelling losers happy.

Well, if it was just Tzuyu making the decision, that'd make sense.

JYPE also has a say in it, but maybe Tzuyu liked the song that much that she pushed for it.

Lemme ask you this: Suppose an opportunity to collab organically comes up. Is the idea that they take it to JYPE, and then a bunch of expert marketers crunch a bunch of numbers and decide, "oh, well, this will increase our monthly listeners by *%, so we should do it?"

Man if that's true, that's some depressing shit. No wonder most pop music is dogshit then.

So, circling round: I do have a distaste for the mindset, of like, collaborations as a transaction in which both parties should gain. And that the purpose of a collaboration should be the gain. Usually, it wouldn't go directly to Tzuyu anyway. Unless Tzuyu has a personal connection or personal interest in the artist, everything else would probably go through JYPE. All collaborations offered would be vetted by Tzuyu's team, and then the opportunity would be presented to Tzuyu. That's how it generally works for all artists who reach a certain point of success in their career.

If Tzuyu has a personal connection or interest, then it might be presented to her first, and then she'd need to take it to JYPE for their okay. This is to make sure it fits her schedule, the proper legal and financial paperwork is taken care of, and that it is something that aligns with the JYPE, Twice, and Tzuyu brand. That's just how the business works.

Since Twice has worked with producers who are associated with Corbyn, Tzuyu might have some connection to him. Maybe he asked them to reach out to Tzuyu for him. Tzuyu liked the song and brought it to JYPE. Who knows? But, at the end of the day, JYPE has to have final approval on it's release either way.

It's not all about streams though. Chaeyoung worked with this nugu indie duo called Coco & Clair to release a song, but that all stemmed from Chaeyoung being a fan of theirs. I was just interested in Tzuyu's motive for wanting to do this since there are plenty of people who probably want to work with her, but she'll probably mention it eventually.

Well there you go.

To crystallise my point, I would much rather have a collab like the Coco & Clair Clair Chaeyoung remix than the atrocity Twice released with Coldplay. We Pray is the worst song Twice have ever been involved with, which is saying something, because Twice released Don't Call Me Again. But it improved their commercial standing, probably a lot more than the Chaeyoung remix.

I'm someone who doesn't get the extra money generated by the streams. I am someone who gets to hear the songs though. So I'm going to save my collab criticisms for when they collab with bands that make music for wine moms who listen while applying the latest organic facemask they ordered from goop.com.

Considering we know Twice pushed for I Got You, maybe they're just fans of these dudes, and maybe they'll be working with them more going forwards. Honestly, I hope so. I think it's just a bit shitty of the fanbase to be so dismissive because this guy's a "nobody". While fawning over Chris Martin. Honestly gross.

I think it's nice how twice girls are doing solo stuff while active in group. If the song is good fans will be extra happy with the many different contents.

It's something new. She released an album last year and has done nothing since. He's an up and coming artist who needs the exposure. Tzuyu needs it too since she hasn't yet established herself as a soloist(obviously not as much as him) and this may be a hard pill to swallow for some but her solo didn't do well. If she had said no, then her fans might have been left waiting until like 2027 for a new album and who knows how that would have performed. She has nothing to lose here. They are both new soloists, close in age. Personally, I am super excited for this song.

Also, I don't usually like TWICE collabs since they choose artists below their calibre most of the time (Tayla Parx, Coco & Clair, Saweetie) but Tzuyu and Corbyn match.

I mean tzuyu’s solos aren’t the biggest of hits either so I would assume this is just something fun for both of them.
