I'm really tired of the ITZY erasure when talking about 4th gen gg accomplishments.

It's not erasure. It's oblivion. Because it's been a long time since they've had a hit.

I mean sure they arguably have one of the biggest 4th gen debuts, but after Loco era it all went downhill unfortunately.

Even Nmixx has higher charting nowadays compared to Itzy.

So IMO 4th gen ggs overall popularity would be

1. Njs

2. Aespa

3. Ive

4. Gidle

5. Le sserafim

6. I*Zone

7. And here maybe Itzy, but we can argue Nmixx as well.

I am a fan of the group but they peaked too early. JYP didn't know how to handle their momentum and got left behind. I think they needed to change direction after loco or possibly sneakers. However, things didn't work out and they were left behind. I think if they made their current music after Loco they would be in a better situation.

I don't see it as an erasure it's just that it's hard to carry momentum for an entire generation. It just didn't work out for Itzy holding onto spot early. You can say the same thing about Stayc that they didn't know what to do with their momentum and now no longer in conversation of top group.

Anyway, said it once, will say it again and again... what killed ITYZ's momentum was the pandemic. JYP wanted a strong performance group with concerts and touring in mind, and particularly focused on the West. See how much effort was put into making all the members learn and USE English.

Then the pandemic hit, live performances and tours, especially international, ground to a halt and so did the plans JYP had and then JYP had no... fucking... idea... what to do with them and spent years spinning tires.

Funnily enough, ITZY still has the highest social media numbers in terms of followers for all 4th gen groups.

It just means that the "achievments" a lot of people talking about is not really that big of achievments......

But it's a group for JYP so of cource they will get a lot of intrest from the start.

Their best songs are Wannabe, Bet on Me and Imaginary Friend. Dalla Dalla is a bit too noisy, even if I can agree it's one of their better songs.

You didn't actually mention their biggest and most relevant achievement they actually have which is Wannabe youtube views are above 500M. Only 4th gen mv to do this. Only metric their peers haven't achieved and overtaken and most probably won't.

Itzy started off strong and got their flowers early. However, interest in them declined and no longer in the top 5 for 4th gen groups but does it matter when they're able to tour and sell out venues and their names still holds weight? I ams sure whatever solo activities members do it will gather some interest

Look at Yeji's solo debut sales and that says it all how there's still a lot of interest in group.

I think we have to remember awards and sales isn't everything. There are other ways to know how valuable the brand of an idol or group is. I think the most important thing about Itzy they were able to maintain a large fanbase that is willing to check out their content when it releases. At the end of the day that's what matter the most because awards come and go but having loyal fanbase is what pays the bill. It's why I don't worry too much about JYP groups because they're able to main loyal fans.
