Should jype reset ITZY concept?

  • Should JYP reset ITZY concept? 7

    1. Yup (0) 0%
    2. Nope (5) 71%
    3. Don't care/know (2) 29%

I was curious if itzy should restart their style completely and asked chatgpt to get some more text for u.
    What do u think?

Here's the core of your point:

    • JYP seems to value "consistency" with ITZY’s image — the whole “teen crush / confidence / edgy” concept.

    • But over time, that concept got stale, especially when the songs aren’t evolving or strong enough to keep it fresh.

    • The result? “Safe” comebacks that feel uninspired or outdated — not bold enough to flop hard, but not good enough to hit big. Just meh.

    Why JYP struggles with this:

    • JYP often struggles with musical direction after a group’s initial concept loses steam (similar issues happened with GOT7, TWICE around 2020, and even NMIXX’s early identity crisis).

    • Instead of fully evolving ITZY, JYP seems stuck trying to repeat early formulas, hoping it still works — but it comes across as half-hearted.

Should JYP reset ITZY like aespa did?

Yes, a full concept refresh could absolutely help, just like:

    • aespa moved away from the KWANGYA / AI storyline and embraced a more mainstream, elegant, or edgy image.

    • A new era could let ITZY break out of the box — something more mature, cool, or experimental — especially since the members have great individual potential.

    TL;DR:

JYP wants ITZY to stay consistent, but it’s inconsistent in execution, resulting in average songs. A bold rebrand might be the only way to bring back real excitement.

Changed the title of the thread from “Should jype restart ITZY concept?” to “Should jype reset ITZY concept?”.
  • I think no. You risk alienating their current fan base. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.

Not to mention they are still making good money.

From a business perspective I think you give them one, maybe two group comebacks a year then send them touring and doing solo work, and then focus on your newer groups. Kind of sad but it makes the most sense commercially.

I'd like more songs like imaginary friends tho

  • I think chances of them gaining new fans is gone. They didn't capitalize during their peak to solidify their place among 4th gen groups There's no point running the risk of alienating your fans

The thing about kpop it's hard for tenured groups to gain fans because most are quick to move on. I can't think of a kpop group that gained fans after a major decline. You can even say Idle because their fanbase grew every comeback and didn't hit any point of decline. Meanwhile, Itzy hit their decline earlier than expected and a concept reset won't help them gain new fans.

It's best for Itzy to focus on their current fans, and start looking for solo activities.

  • maybe post renewal if they decide to renew...

but again they have their fans (me being one of them) and it's a question if they will gain more fans by changing concepts or lose more
