Should BlackPink have done a Stadium Tour before KPop's Greatest Anachronism's 2022 concert?

    BlackPink's new concert is admirable and it will throw a huge onus against BTS and Stray Kids, since they now MUST outdo BP's world tour.


    Its 11 dates means it will do more than 500,000 people, plus it said "And more" so there will be more dates.


    However, as always, the Korean leg would be a waste of time.


    The Koyang 'Stadium', left empty because it is in the middle of nowhere, was mostly used to film ISAC once or two times per year but thanks to Lim Youngwoong forbidding other acts to use the lawn because the Korean soccer teams have to play soccer, which is only watched by Koreans only, all other acts are now relegated to the crappy Koyang Stadium. Its only full concert was that of Seventeen, which for 2 days assembled 58,000, meaning its capacity is around 30,000 and it has very little amenity.


    Despite of that , because of the lack of better spots (they will use the Main Olympic Stadium as the baseball stadium until 2031!), BP has to waste two days at the crappy Koyang.


    The time for BP to have a stadium tour was 2022, when Hybe and BTS lost their initiative. However, as always, Mr. YG went into penny pinching, while the former owner of Edam Entertainment, KPop's Greatest Anachronism, moved fast.


    KPop's Greatest Anachronism attempted a concert in late 2020 and early 2022, so the city fathers gave her the precedence, which was wrong. I think YG should have pulled all of their strings and take the spot from KPop's Greatest Anachronism, whose reach outside of Korea back then was, I have to say, nil.


    KPop's Greatest Anachronism could have sued, but the suit would take time to resolve and by then the stadium would be out of her hands.


    Instead, BlackPink has to start its tour in a half-stadium, while the honor of being the first female act to have a stadium concert in Korea will eternally remain on the hands of KPop's Greatest Anachronism.


    At BTS' height, BlackPink did not do anything, while KPop's Greatest Anachronism actually fought the act by herself. Which is why among the Koreans KPop's Greatest Anachronism is regarded higher than BlackPink or Roseanne Park, MBE, because KPop's Greatest Anachronism had the first stadium concert, before other more internationally relevant KPop acts, and becaues the Anachronism, unlike BlackPink, was not afraid to fight BTS in the latter's height.

    BP is no ordinary girl group and among the number of fans it is on the same league with BTS and SKZ, although for whatever reason the koreans still revere Kpop's Greatest Anachronism more.

    YG would have been foolish to have blocked your IU. That would have been like another "Burning Sun" in SK

    But yes, that would have been effective if the plan was to "Burning bridges" in Korea.

    It would have taught a lesson that people who are not relevant outside of korea should not attempt a stadium concert in Korea


    The effect of Golden Hour was huge and it cemented the Anachronism's status as the chief singer of Korea, something even APT. could not change.

    That is just illogical. If they are not relevant OUTSIDE Korea they should not attempt stadium's OUTSIDE Korea, why would they not attempt INSIDE Korea?


    Stop treating Korea as some 'Export only' zone, to cater to the outside world. They too can have preferences and choices of their own.


    Of course APT is not going to change that. Rose is still an outsider to Korean, irrespective of her ancestry and the song barring for the "aapaateu" has little to do with Korean ethos.

    She of course is not going to replace the "Last National Singer" IU.

    What if China opens up to Kpop and allow the Senior Singer to do Stadium concerts there and not Blackpink or others.


    IU has the "Wholesome" image, that can be approved by the Mandarins of the CCP court.

    The dilemma of Korea being just an export zone for the global KPop fans and the locals refusing that fate is indeed the chief factor KPop faltered on the gates of global conquest.


    Unlike the British Invasion, where the local language was compatible with the languages spoken in USA, Korean is incompatible with English, and it did have different traditions from Japan still pervasive in korean pop music while kpop is mostly Western oriented.


    The presence of the Great Anachronism, who refused to comply with the trend and fought against it for 15 long years until finally defeated by Bibi in Feb 2024, kept Korea from becoming an export factory for all these days, and the transformation, led by Roseanne Park, is finally happening, albeit too late since Kpop is already past its peak.

    Or rather the agencies' choice and the agencies are slowly growing and being capable of both.


    But psychologically, whatever be the profit - if you are not appreciated at home and all the rest world celebrates you, it still will be an inadequate victory.


    As to Bibi's victory, it is a blip. Had IU been defeated by GIDLE or even the SolUnits like Rose or Jungkook releasing alongside, then definitely that is a vibe-shift. Otherwise interesting, but trivial.
