Is APT's success only because of Bruno Mars?

  • Definitely not. That's how haters cope. Blackpink girls success have always been downplayed.

Once Money become popular, it was only because of squid game. Once ootg become popular, it was only because of abel. Once flower become popular, it was just because of tiktok flower dance.

Every Blackpink member getting "lucky" year after year regardless are they doing it as group or solo.

  • The song become popular, because it become viral just like Gangnam Style. If Bruno would play that big role, he should have significantly more views for die with smile during first week in Youtube. Die with smile actually started perform better after APT become viral.

You know that regardless the song is a hit or not Blinks can stream them on yt? Like Solo has 1b+ streams, Lisa can pull insane numbers and etc…

I’m in no way discrediting Rosé but her other past and present singles aren’t even 30% as popular as APT.

And Gaga also flopped with her single that came out recently, so I think it would be more rational to give Bruno more credit.

And Bruno was featured in Uptown funk(which people mainly know because of Bruno) which like has 5bn+ views on yt

I love Rosé but realistically Bruno was and is a hit maker

  • Ya and that song was over 10 years ago. Do you really think bruno still have bigger loyal fanbase than Blackpink? Thanks to blinks massive support any song can be boosted to "viral zone".

  • Prove what?

Idk, that's why I'm asking the question.

I don't think it's true cuz Bruno Mars stopped being relevant a long time ago. His last hit before APT was released in 2016 and while 24K Magic has become a classic, it has also become severely outdated.

That is my general response to anyone saying "It's mostly Bruno" or "Only popular because of Bruno", because they can't prove it.

Personally I think the song would've went viral regardless, it's not like the BP girls are some randos, so the song was going to get a lot of attention regardless. And it's just a good song that has viral potential, with or without Bruno. Obviously having him on their helped make it as big as it is but I do believe the song was going to do well regardless. At the end of the day it's impossible to say I guess.

  • i think the better question would be, do people know rose sings it. i already commented on it. in my country Seven was popular, but did people generally know it was jungkook who sings it or was it the song? nobody i know knew who sings it, some thought it was justin beiber lol. they didn't care to look it up, they liked the song and that was it.

Western artists don’t need gigantic loyal fanbases to become viral. And “Die with a smile” is a bigger hit than Apt

And which BP/solo song was viral like Apt? Hell even Dynamite by BTS might not be on the level of APT.

  • from my pov:

its a catchy song and its from a bp member, the song would have been big regardless of whether it had bruno or no

but, bruno boosted its popularity because of his popularity in the west i guess

edit: i was lowkey borderline high when i wrote this; grammer

Die with smile definitely was not bigger during debut than APT. It got more popular over time while APT become instantly popular.

None of their previous song was as viral as apt, but multiple song by Blackpink have gone viral. Like do you think "How You Like That" is played over 4,1B times only because of fandom alone in Youtube?

not by blinks but kpop fandom only. that sound and song structure isn't something western market likes.

I do think that majority of people(99%) that heard the word “kpop” know Blackpink but I don’t think majority of them heard their songs or can name them

i actually think that nowadays music is like films where there are no big stars anymore, only big films (with the exception of christopher nolan. people just need to hear his name and they are sold). artists get viral if their songs go viral. artists' fandoms will always support their faves but virality is what makes gp hear it. and even then they most likely won't know who sings is.

Are you sure, it is even used in western movie trailers?
