  • A pretty popular indie rock band.

But I don't think most would consider them under "k-pop".

Are they really that popular? This thread is literally the first time I've heard of them, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that applies to.

Their total sales appear to be just over 30K units, and they don't seem to have a presence on Korean charts either. There appears to be nothing exceptional about them.

It simply doesn't make sense that they were able to out-chart the likes of Babymonster, IVE, and Agust D. Are their streams legitimate, or might there be some funny business going on?

Well, I just did a quick search of them on Spotify after seeing their name, and they do have 8,4M monthly listeners and some songs over 100m+ (one 300m+). So on Spotify they do have some streams, and they're on a small tour now, but of course they're not super popular or anything. I just assumed they had a decent enough following seeing them on the list and checking their profile.

They have a bigger discography than for example BabyMonster , IVE do less daily streams than wave to earth on Spotify, Agust D hasn't released anything this year. I think the difference in streams between these acts might have been very small.

I accept that they do well on Spotify, but it's discomforting that the rest of their metrics do‍n't come close to measuring up to that of the other artists in the to‍p 20. What's the explanation for ho‍w they were able to pull this off, as a relatively unk‍nown K-rock band?

    I don't know, I don't know this band either.

But I see that their most popular songs on Spotify also have some engagement on Tiktok as well (used in 160k, 140k, and 100k videos, random videos with their songs has millions of likes). Perhaps related?

  • BP w/o any group releases for 2 years... Daebak!! :cursing: :cursing:

Mate, be serious, please! I know BLINKS loves to say: "They did this with 30 songs." and "Without a cb for 2 years."

You're saying this like it matters. The easiest thing on Earth to stream 10 Title Tracks and BLINKS, just like ARMY, FEARNOT, MONSTIEZ, ONCE, TOKKIS etc stream their faves 24/7, it doesn't matter if they have a cb or not. It would be weird as hell if the biggest fandoms on Spoti only stream their faves when they have a cb, because they wouldn't be on the top every year. 98% of their stats comes from fans.
