Melon Music Award Lineup - end of the influence of the Senior Singer

  • Melon Awards will be held in Korea on Nov 30.

    Lineup

    Gidle

    aespa

    IVE

    TripleS

    Qwer

    Ateez

    Boyz Next Door

    Riize

    TWS

    (Plave)

    9 teams and 1 animation.

TWS is there so Hybe is not boycotting but it seems Illit won't be there.

    The lineup seems weak.

On 2022 MMA could not invite too many stars so it made that show a private show for Lim Youngwoong, who won the only Grand Prize as a trottist from there.

It is expected that aespa will win all 3 categories or Gidle might win the Album of the Year award.

And this list omits the Elephant in the Room, or more accurately, the 1,345 years old Strange Creature in the Room.

    ---

In 2021 , as BTS and aespa could not attend the MMA. BTS was having a concert at Los Angeles and aespa was in New York a few days earlier and was in quarantine.

And Melon was bold enough to challenge BTS by bringing back the Strange Creature to wrest the Grand Prizes from BTS' hands , starting the beginning of the end of BTS.

However, this year , even though the lineup is a bit weaker, with no major male idols,

MMA has chosen not to bring the Strange Creature to the MMA.

Apparently other idols express discomfort about the Strange Creature being at the ceremony.

No one really likes their grandmother to be in a party, since if the grandmother is there it takes away a lot of excitement

With a 1,345 years old great-(a bunch of greats) - grandaunt sitting on the event, the younger idols feel uncomfortable. Qwer and possibly Triple S might be happy to see the Creature, but Gidle, aespa and IVE will feel uncomfortable.

But it seems MMA did try to bring the Strange Creature there, since the name Bibi is absent in case the Creature might feel uncomfortable to see someone who became famous with the song given by her ex.

But it seems the Creature, her reputation hurt decisively by the hands of Bibi and Jang Kiha, chose to forgo the chance to see the younger idols since she now realizes her chokehold on KPop , which lasted for 14 years , has finally ended.

  • is it full line up?

  • Don't take WhyKnock too seriously, he has been writing about the end of IU for the past 12 years or so.

As to MMA line up, I have a feeling that MAMA has made up with IU and she might turn up there instead.

Her official X retweeted MAMA, which I don't recollect in the past years.

Hahaha, yeah I know, I'm just playing.

He's also been saying it's the end of 4th and 5th gen over the past few weeks too, so I just want to know where it all stands

Hhe just hopes the every new idol group that debuts decides to ignore IU and start a grand new age of Kpop. But eventually they end up doing what he calls as "filial duty" to Senior Singer.

So he places his hope on the next generation, declaring the end of the one which disappointed him.

    Rinse, repeat.

I think I've been signed up here since pre-covid and I still don't understand some of these phrases lmao.

Kpop itself is a subculture which has different meanings for 'phrases'

WhyKnock is further eccentric a subculture within kpop, maybe he needs to publish his own Lexicon of terms.

Most of them are about IU -different terms,

Senior Singer, Strange Creature, Great Anachronism etc.,

And then the habit of always using birth names, never stage names..

    Lee Jieun, not IU

    Pranpriya Manobal, not Lisa

    Ennik Douma, not Somi

    etc.,

He used do K-O-R-E-A, but seems mods have crushed that freedom as expression as being Koreo-phobic.

So far BM , Meovv and Katseye have ignored her

IU's influence over KPop in the last 14 years is nothing short of legendary but singers who were born outside of Korea are increasingly seeing her irrelevancy.
