Display MoreOf course, I'll reserve my judgement until the song is actually out, but as a fan I have to say I'm not very happy with this collab.
I have to be honest, I don't know anything about Megan Thee Stallion, aside that she's a rapper, but a quick search shows me that 99% of her songs are explicit and her overall style is just not what I would ever imagine to connect with Twice.
Back when I was still following Blackpink, I witnessed the way their music changed as they started to collab with western artists and lean more towards western/American entertainment, and I really wouldn't want Twice to go that way. Of course, they're allowed to do whatever they want, but I as a fan can express my opinion about it.
I know that Twice's sound changed and matured in the last years and I enjoyed most of it, with a few exceptions, but this might be too much for me. Though maybe I will be surprised and it will be just a small feature, and Megan Thee Stallion will adapt to Twice's style, rather than inserting her own style into Twice's song.
I would expect Megan to adapt a lot more than Twice. Even on her own song they played it pretty safe, so I can't imagine anything different here. And you can forget about the song being explicit, JYP literally doesn't allow Twice to cuss. Ever. All traces of profanity were removed from the cover songs they performed on tour. Younger groups like Itzy can do it, but not Twice. Most of them are nearing 30 but they're still in Disney Channel mode.
The song will be promoted in the US if they're smart. They have nothing to gain in Korea. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it's mostly in English.
