    Ahead of the events in November, a huge change was made to the category of Album Of The Year. They said that rather than being limited to sales figures, the new criteria would look at factors such as planning, music, artwork quality, visuals and the overall impact.

    Let's be honest if artwork etc... Is a criteria no non-mainstream will have a chance for the simple reason that they don't have the money to pour into big artwork, and great photoshoot with interesting concept


    So stop your edgy act who is a strong defender of non mainstream artist

    And welcome back in reality


    Where reality is that it have nothing to do with being mainstream or non-mainstream


    But just who have the most money to be able to hire good visual director to give great visual direction to the album


    And from what i know no mainstream artist did a CDPlayer album like aespa did with Armageddon so just for the criteria or originality and creativity, aespa take the cake

    You wanna give AOTY to Aespa because they had a CDPlayer version? AOTY is for the best album, not for the coolest album version.


    Aespa's concept was anything but interesting. I can't even count how many times I've seen the same concept, even from SME groups.


    IF Mnet really want to give the AOTY to the best album, these should be nominated!


    If we wanna talk about concepts, Moonbyul's and Young Posse's was the best! Especially Byul's with the 9 muses, where all of them had their own music as well.

    The most likely situation is that they change the system to something similar to the Artist of the year. It will count physical sales, local streams and international streams.

    This last point will probably make Jungkook the most likely winner, since those with good local streams have weaker physical sales, and the top bgs with good sales don't have good digitals in general, but Jungkook will have both good physical sales and specially international streams (to the point the score of any other artist is going to be meaningless)

    Doesn't it mean it will get easily manipulate? Just like how some people said sells can be manipulated but that is definitely an obvious way to score high sales for groups with low selling power.


    Including artwork, visual is just subjective and different judges will definitely choose whatever toward their biased preferences.
