I don't think I knew much about that country back then before getting into kpop. (this was before Gangnam Style, BTS and Squid Game)
As a child, I think that I knew that there were two Koreas but knew nothing about these two countries.
And not until Kim Jong-Il passed away, I found out what North Korea was like.
I think I knew though that taekwondo was Korean.
The only thing I remember learning in school about South Korea was about a cult.
One time when my family were on board of a ship, we met a Korean woman.
I remember that one thing that she said about her country was that children start going to school when they are 6 years old.
I don't know why a Nordic teenager like me back then knew little about that country.
