I am unsure who all has watched the documentary yet, but the girls literally were trained as if they were going to debut under an American label and be promoted as an mainstream girl group. They were never told they were going to be on a survival show, and when they brought up concerns they were told to suck it up.
Manon literally only trained with them for a couple weeks before debut as she was scouted online by HYBE and was given special treatment, she also trained by herself in secret and then was suddenly moved in with the other girls who had all already become accustomed to each other.
Then if you watched the show you know there was a female HYBE staff who admitted multiple times to antagonizing the trainees constantly as she found it fun and entertaining. She also sent one of the girls home for refusing to grovel at her feet essentially, begging to stay, after she was forced to watch that female staff orchestrate drama and tension among girls who got along just fine.
I don't know it all has made me worried and feel sorta icky, as like bruh they literally straight up lied to many kids and adult women, then when they were like WTF, HYBE staff was like "Well you do not deserve any better". Also many of the trainees never used social media before they were forced to when they were suddenly shoved into a documentary and an survival show, with no notice, even if they stated they did not desire to use a social media platform.
Especially in light of HYBE's bad past of mistreating idols and current issue of it. I worry for those girls as the US has even less protections for recording artists, as they are not seen as human beings in courts most of the time.
'
Edit: someone just reminded me of this which I forgot about, the psychiatrist who was supposed to help the girls with the mental stress of the situation was paid off by HYBE to expose all of their confidential information that they confided in the doctor for, and to secretly film their sessions. this is DISGUSTING.
Also F--k Mitra Darab and how inhumane she has treated other human beings for her own entertainment.
