The wThe drama Mr. Queen is loosely based upon the life of King Chuljong (reigned 1849-1864).
At that time the such interesting things like Queen Victoria, the US Civil War and the unification of Italy took place, but Korea was still in the old medieval system.
King Heonjong died in 1849 without a successor, and there was no one in the Royal Family who was at the same generation as him, since a cardinal law of Asian succession is that the successor of an emperor/king has to be at the same generation or the next.
The Andong Kim clan, who effectively ruled Korea back then, decided to install somebody whom they could control easily, and they dug up old geneologies and found there was an woodcutter named Lee Wonbum, whose great-great-grandfather was a king, who lived in an island called Kanghwa. So they sent people to fetch the woodcutter from the island.
The woodcutter was found to belong to a previous generation from the dead king. So someone from a previous generation succeeded the throne, showing the regression.
Not surprisingly the woodcutter didn't rule well since he didn't know the art of statecraft, Korea declined further. Which the ruling clan didn't care since they would rather put an incompetent who would let them do whatever they felt like.

Hong Eunchae was criticized often recently for having been absent for quite often, because of various events LeSserafim has in the overseas.
So, her tenure as the Music Bank host will end at the end of the month, but the successor is quite an interesting figure .
Park Minju of Illit is going to succeed Hong Eunchae as the music bank host.
Park Minju was born on May 11, 2004, and she is older than not only Hong Eunchae , but also Jang Wonyoung!
So , even though she debuted later, Minju is almost like someone who was part of the 3rd generation , rather than the 4th!
This event shows the decline of KPop starkly - it has no successors suitable to succeed someone born in 2006, so it has to be succeed by someone who is quite older.
Instead of the succession going like streamrollers, it now goes back by two generations since Park Minju is older than the past two hosts.
Without the Min Heejin mess I think Haerin would have succeeded, but since we won't see NJ anytime soon, the succession is done to someone with a different digit at her age.
