The Ultimate Question - How much sales BTS has to make in its comeback album to judge it as a success?

  • That is unlikely now. If it hits 4 mil, realistically, that will be seen as an amazing triumph.

I feel like they need to pass whatever Seventeen's record from last year was at the very least. It's wild the three best selling albums ever aren't from BTS. That was unthinkable even in 2022.

I think a lot of people have forgotten that BTS last proper album rollout(Mots7) happened before the album boost era and they still sold 4M albums in a week. They are at least doing better than 4M even if this bubble is now burst

And as the poorer showings of various acts showed above, the album boost era has ended before BTS had released a new album so I doubt they will sell even 3m this time.

  • Their first promoted comeback isn't the true test. They will do well, whatever be the number, just because of the return after the hiatus.

But the one after, that will be the test of how much their popularity has been retained.

I personally think their next comeback, late 2025/early 2026, will be their last. After that it will be once a blue moon, like Kara's reunion album. They might join together once in maybe 5 or 7 years, have a brief tour at Seoul and a few other major cities of the world, and that would be it since they would be too busy running their own stuff.

Because the MHJ show completely derailed the internal structure of Hybe.

The members cannot unlearn that MHJ was about to receive money a lot more than all they had earned all their lives.

So much for those who failed on arithmetic barking about 'longer career'. Idol groups can't really dance after late 30s. Their dance routines get softer. And they now have to look for the next stages of their lives.

It was much more profitable for them to jump the military, collect as much as they did until 2025, and move on to their next stages.
