In SEA, kpop is still popular but the local groups have also been gaining a lot of popularity. For example, P-pop groups are starting to get recognition.
In many places? Yes. K-pop's issue is that Korea is small, and it speaks Korean. Nobody but Korea speaks Korean. So countries can easily just adapt K-pop elements into their own domestic audience and focus on just the domestic crowd. It's not like Japan where countries besides America and China really don't want to compete in spaces like video games. Everyone wants to at least own their domestic market.
I guess time will tell
it's hard to gauge whether something is peaking or rock bottom when we are actively in the middle of it
give it a few years and see if numbers are continuously depressed or otherwise
the answer has everything to do with a certain group not being in the picture at the moment. the curiosity simply isn't there at a large scale for anyone else. one group in particular felt close to capturing a wave of revitalized acclaim and attention but their latest songs landed with a thud in the west. TLDR: we will see what happens "for kpop" when a certain group returns.

Last year was the peak of K-pop, the achievements of NewJeans are incredible, whose group has already been internationally popular for at most a year, also Fifty Fifty with their super hit, sales and streaming records were set. Now K-pop is on the decline, it has ceased to be interesting
It's definitely anime consumption. Still to have anime help boost Japanese music at similar levels to Korean music in terms of listeners, is still a feat in itself. Especially when Japan does not do any aggressive marketing in their music like Korea nor do they use a lot of localization tactics. You would assume Japanese music would have fallen way below Korean music thanks to them closing their international market but it hasn't.
It's not about peaking. Kpop lost a lot of its wow factor. Too many groups and nothing is truly groundbreaking. Take for example XG woke up, name me a kpop group that has done something like that lately?
And you may hate me for this but competition was one of kpop charming sides. Now all the gourps are successfull and million sellers which is good for them. But this rendered the scene dull
