Just like how mhj is recognised as the mother of newjeans. YG is trying to mimic her and portray himself as the father of babymonster or something. He always pushes himself in babymonster's contents and you'll see him show up in majority of babymonster's behind the scenes contents. He even puts jokes and lines about him in scripts of babymonster's variety show contents. Most of the announcement of babymonster's are made with his video.
He's trying really hard, like 20x hard, even mhj doesn't shows up in group's official channel contents like he does.
He was already doing stuff like this for years for his past groups including Big Bang and Ikon...
The only group he didnt really put much attentions were their GGs and Winner (he prefers Ikon over Winner)

No lol. If at all, it's MHJ "copying" YG and even JYP. YG has always been hands on with his groups, esp. before the controversies started. He's seen working or hanging out with BigBang, 2ne1, Ikon, Winner, AKMU, Lee Hi, etc. in their studios, behind the stage in concerts, etc. He appeared in Blackpink series.
He has always had the nickname Papa YG ever since 2nd gen, and the concept of a company being called "family" (i.e. YG Family compared to SM Town, JYP Nation) was already a thing.
You're definitely new to kpop. Like embryo level, not even fetus level.
