Ive surely been quite severely overworked by Starship

  • Do you honestly think the members have zero say in their schedule? I can assure you that Wonyoung and Yujin do. They are Starship - you don’t keep them happy the group is going to suffer.

I agree so much with this part. There's a lot of WY stans currently complaining about Starship 'mistreating' her due to low amount solo promotions this year. It's completely delusional to think WY doesn't have a massive say in what activities she does and does not do.

The contracts should have been re-signed for IVE debut so they should have quite favorable terms as they could have walked away at that point. Not to mention IZ*ONE should have made them somewhat rich. They've also never said a single bad word about Starship, quite the opposite.

  • Idk about IVE sales but Twice still had the most sales for even one album in these years, so having less releases wouldn't have changed that. Situation shifted in 2020 with The Album

what you said about Ive are the exact same arguments used at the time of Twice saying that 3rd gen have much higher selling power so the comparison isn’t fair with 2nd gen groups really pretty ironic how Kpop stand rehash the exact same senior with each new generation

First person you quoted wasn't me & besides, I think they was being sarcastic? (not sure but sounds like, especially from that person). I don't think any inter-generation comparison was done either ?

I agree with what you initially said, that the same "reproach" is made to Twice (that they are "only successful because they work more") however I don't think first person you quoted was being serious. I only corrected one thing, it's that talking about Twice two first years, this argument is invalid anyway because they had the most sold album (1) per year in any case til 2020 (I think IZone had most sold album at one point on hanteo, but can't remember the year, must have happened after Twice first 2 years anyway). I don't speak about IVE themselves because I don't know about them and don't follow their activities & success (hence the "idk about IVE")

  • I'm not familiar with other groups, but for NJ, based on what?

They promoted multiple releases throughout their first year, probably more than IVE did during their debut year. It's one thing to release music, and another to promote almost every single you release. It must have been quite exhausting but it surely paid off.

They actually didn't do much promotion. During their debut and comeback, they only went to music show for about 2 weeks. For 'Get Up,' the girls asked for a one-month promotion, as they've always had short promotion periods before. And that's it. They didn't go to variety shows or university festivals this year, had fewer than 10 fan meets, with only a few of them offline. They also haven't had tours or fansign tours like other groups. They only attended 3 festivals, including Lollapalooza and 2 in Japan. They were given time off and went back to their hometown when they were just a one-year-old group. Most importantly, the girls always say they have a lot of free time and sleeping a lot, according to what I've seen from their fans.

For me, they do have a lot of leisure time.

This is so important. Younger folks might have 10x more energy than ahjumma and ahjussi, but they need more sleep not less, and the sleep habits of my faves give me so much stress omg.

Being 17 years old yet regularly going to bed at 4AM and waking up at 8AM or napping from midnight to 2AM to wake up for music shows :sob-bunny: .

I follow LSRFM close enough to know that they have alleged "vacations" after each comeback but holy cow, these breaks seem to last literally 3 days and then it's off to do more work. Even Somi mentioned that she only had like 6 days off in the past 6 months leading up to her recent comeback. At least Somi has huge breaks between albums.

The average Kpop group that is booked and busy (the top 10-20 BGs and GGs basically) need to take at least a MONTH off every year to prevent burnout imo. Eg, I want LSRFM to disappear after GDA 2024 in Jan and not come back to work until Feb to begin prep for their next comeback.
