Kinda same I guess? Because by 2016, Exo had some of their dominance shaken by BTS with BTS winning some daesang too.. If you say 2015 Exo, then Exo is higher than 2023 seventeen. At that time Exo was the undisputed number 1 BG.

About the same, but I put Seventeen slightly in front as they are still growing.

They are comercially bigger than 2016 EXO, but It's expected a Top BG peaking in 2023 is bigger than a Top BG peaking in 2016, cause K-pop's reach overall is away bigger than it was 7 years ago.

I voted SVT. I don't know the answer but SVT stans are way nicer in general than EXO stans.

EXO popularity was very constant throughout. They have been doing well since they hit big in 2013 in a very consistent way.

In 2016 monster was a hit but lotto was a miss and for life was also a so so but in 2018 love shot and tempo both were hit and in 2017 kkb was a hit and Universe was a hit but power was so so.

In 2015 LMR, CMB and SFY were all hits.

So 2015 > 2017,2018> 2016 number of hit songs wise.

But I wouldn’t say it was because EXO was bigger or smaller during those times, they always maintained their level of popularity but some songs were better than others so they performed better.

Voted yes. In Korea SVT still a bit far from the legacy EXO had at this point and even its GP reach was not as big

Also, I'm not quite sure whether SVT has EXO popularity among the average chinese citizen, but here I digress because china market is an ass for data analysis and you still can't tour there anyway

Everything else SVT 2023 beats EXO 2016. Album sales, touring power, and even streams. EXO peak in popularity internationally was 2017 to 2018

Anyway in Korea the gap between 17 and exo is very huge I hope there’s no delulu over this.

But internationally by sheer numbers seventeen is higher no two ways about it.

So if people care about Korea and also China then exo.

If people care about outside these two places more then seventeen is obviously bigger. Not just 17 a lot of groups are bigger than EXO lol.

True, but GG market is pretty much a different market altogether. Girlgroup popularity evolution during 4th gen cannot be overstated, but there is an obvious market change here in which male groups overall didn't experienced, which makes comparisons between GGs and BGs here largely pointless

I can only think 2 GGs who had any sort of international presence outside east Asia before Blackpink started releasing hits during their debut era, 2NE1 and SNSD. Now we have a dozen.

In my heart of heart I don’t think 17 is bigger even now and even intentionally.

I just believe exo didn’t release the right song. IF they had gone more mature and easy to listen to a la the eve or love shot instead of DFTF/CS they would have outperformed 17 on Spotify/youtube.
