I keep asking myself the same question about them and Secret Number.
I guess these two girl groups perfectly encapsulate what social media only popularity means.

They were definitely popular at one point, their hiatus really took a toll on them.

I think Yuehua definitely fucked them over, and I'm not sure if they'll recover from it. Their physicals sales aren't great, and the world tour they are on right now isn't selling that well either.
Honestly, their future is questionable. This all happened because Yuehua stopped pushing them at the height of their popularity, and now, that may be what kills their careers, which sucks because it's their company's fault anyway.

No reason lol at first everyone thought it was because of the Yiren bowing incident but that whole thing didn’t need a two year hiatus

Yes they really were before their hiatus 2019-2020, they suffered what kiss of life will probably suffer in some years, the very moment they do something that is slightly different than kpop fans give them attention for their careers will crumble.

They will probably make it to the end of their 7 year contract, while still putting out music. That can be seen as successful.

I don't think Kiss Of Life is analogical to Everglow. As I said in my comment Secret Number seems to be more comparable. Kiss Of Life is getting pretty good promotion in South Korea, which is turning into attention. Their agency, tho previously unheard of, is doing a pretty good job getting them gigs.
The opposite was true for Everglow and Secret Number, they had international hype but remained nugu domestically.

Kiss Of Life is getting pretty good promotion in South Korea, which is turning into attention. Their agency, tho previously unheard of, is doing a pretty good job getting them gigs.

Everglow at least sold 44k albums while Secret Number 3k this year. I don't think Secret Number is good comparison at all

Secret Number have entire country of Indonesia to monetize. Even though they aren't heavy album buyers a market of 250 million people can surely be monetized in different ways. For example Dita has endorsment deal with Indo brands, they also get to perform on different events there.

I see, seems right but everglow had promo in korea they just kept being unknown despite it. But who is this kiss of life company? They have pretty good budget and connections I wouldn't expect from a unknown company, so who's behind it?
