Nothing is off limits in terms of marketing for YG. This is what differentiates YG and Kakao from JYP, Hybe and SM.
However, I do not think any of the newer active girl groups are perceived as a threat to BM. As none of them are really hip hop or true girl crush, but t(w)een pop, so they are competing in a different target market to BM.

technically if we think about it, this is all army's fault (I'm joking )
but honestly I don't know if babymonster will ever be at new jeans level, like at all. Especially if teddy is producing their music, good luck to them....YG will be stupid to even compare new jeans to baemon.

I don't think YGE is at that top level of hype promotion and brand building anymore that they were in 2nd gen and early 3rd gen when YG (the man) was in full control and very active. But we'll see I guess.
... also not sure why there are people who think HYBE equals Army. Lately I've spent several times taking a stance in discussions and arguments that no, being an Army does NOT mean being a hardcore BH/HYBE company stan and that this would apply to most Army.
Maybe it was this part that triggered quick and fleeting readers?
neither will Hybe's massive army of fans.

Definitely true between the men and women, agree completely. I think BP having some production credits in their recent album is a sign of good things to come. I also saw rumors that their new GG has a member with production skills, so I am hoping that they see through with that. Always baffled me why YG had such a major difference between how they approach BG (let them do whatever they want musically) and GG (YG controls them completely).

I think that was purely a matter of necessity: he simply didn't have any he deemed capable enough.
Oh, he did try to push members of his girl groups into production/songwriting/lyrics credits, but that was more for image and promotional purposes
and to fool gullible, naive Blackjacks, YG stans and other K-pop fans into thinking they were near GD artistry levelLet's be real: Teddy is the core behind the strong songs of YG girl groups, YG simply didn't have any of his female idols on that level that could replace him.
Personally I think YG just got very lucky a few times and that he struck gold with GD and Teddy: he tried to emulate that success with his follow up boy groups but failed to captivate that same level of success. BI stated that of the 50 strong songs he proposed, barely 1 or 2 were found acceptable enough by YG.
YG was a perfectionist, it must frustrate him that he doesn't have a whole score of Teddy's among his male and female artists, especially considering that in terms of productivity Teddy is like the George R.R. Martin of producing/songwriting.
I also think that for their girl groups, YG are looking for different core strengths that would boost brand building, and that they'd rather have girl idols that can radiate the right image/vibe, above girl idols who would be less in those but had strong songwriting/producing talents.

This made the GoT fan (the books) in me chuckle

GRRM isn't unproductive, he just gave up on the books. Hit him up with a TV series idea and he'll run faster than a leopard. It is sad but dude, despite obviously being one of the better writers, doesn't respect the craft as much and feels more important while doing TV shows.

He’s quite invested in side story / prequel books. I think he just wrote himself into a corner with WoW and now can’t be bother to finish
