Ticket prices are getting more expensive, but the concert structure is poorly made.

There are way too many "cost-effective" tours where the LED boards are not even visible and even the sound is poor.

(+ This also applies to joint performance at broadcasting station where several singers come out and sing an ending song together, and end up receiving hundreds of thousands of won for the sound, hosting, and set, etc.)

If you were to compare it with the set of western artists:

    1. Please invest more in the stage f*ck

    2. Just what are they doing with all the money they get from ticket prices?

    3. For real, my bias also did this and I was so disappointed

    4. Please use up some money and start differentiating seat prices. It makes no sense that there's an uniform seat price (t/n: all the seats despite being far or close are all priced the same)

    5. Wow the overseas stage quality is way too different

    6. The stages are always the same and they don't even decorate it at all ㅋㅋㅋ The sound system also sucks. All the idols and ballad concerts are the same

    7. I don't care about anything but they really need to work on that sound system ㅋㅋ

    8. Ah I'm so envious

    9. I bet international KPOP fans will find Korean concerts super lame if they came wowㅋㅋ

    10. The foreign singers' stages are seriously cool

  • as far as I remember TWICE stages were always cool in Japanese concerts

IU's concert in Korea also had nice stage with big vertical screens on the sides so everyone could see her well

Koreans should blame two things here

    1. They don't have multipurpose use 15-20k modern arena with full roof

    2. Even when they do stadium concerts those are mostly on older stadiums with running track around which makes things harder to see from the audience seats

  • Are they seriously comparing rando idol concerts with literal BEYONCE AND TAYLOR SWIFT concerts??? Those American concert sets look like they're set in huge stadiums or arenas. Most Korean concerts are set in literal gymnasiums since nobody in Korea wants to spend money for them.

If Knetz are serious about wanting Kpop to invest in better stages, then pay the higher ticket prices and stop complaining about them and get more friends to actually buy them so that the labels and promoters can count on 20k, 30k, 40k or more for each concert instead of the 6k gymnasiums ffs.

One thing i will say is that stages without a live band can definitely feel like a cover dance group performance and not a real concert. You have the same music from the album piped in to the speakers and the idols are generally lip syncing. I dont blame them, nobody would be able to hit the kinda notes idol songs demand while dancing, imagine trying to sing a song like Panorama while actually dancing lol, and i dont blame the labels of nugu groups for not having live bands since that's probably a considerable added cost and wouldnt make sense for a small concert.

But the richer labels and top selling groups could try to incorporate live bands into their tours to get more of that true live concert feeling. And adjust the choreo when necessary so that the specific member singing is allowed to just stand and hit the notes live without having to worry about choreo.

  • except it's not just stages in Korea that suck. The dome concerts in Japan...the stadium concerts from twice, BP, BTS...all plain and boring af.

  • If I compared recent world tours from BP and Twice etc to the likes of those from Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, The Weekend etc, it’s a joke. The staging, big screens etc was average compared to the US artists. I mean Beyoncé’s backup dancers worn some outfits on par with the idols themselves. Kpop definitely need to step up their game, you can tell those Western artists really setup the tour they wanted from every aspect, they had control. That’s the difference between artists and idols. You could tell YG and JYP was thinking money first…..Well let’s see what BTS has in store but likelihood it will be much of the same, I think if they did a big scale concert stretching to 3-4 million then potentially we could see some effort in staging etc
