At the beginning of the year the 4th Gen seems to be ready to take the mantle of KPop.
But, with the effective disappearance of BTS and BP, and Twice mostly concentrating in the overseas, the Revenge of the Older Generation began.
AKMU defeated Jungkook in one of the most unsung battles of history. Jungkook's #1 song in Billboard Hot 100 was defeated by a song which will never enter the Billboard Hot 100.
There has been a bunch of comebacks, but none of them can send AKMU back to the yonders.
And now Lim Youngwoong came out with a 90's style dance song, with a hint of trot. Obviously made for people in 40s-50s who don't like trot, he wants to capture some of the Kpop market, since promotions by 1st gen act is sporadic and market for fans of such act is open for grabs.
Of course, the Elephant in the Room has not made her move yet. It is likely that she will move in January to grab all of 2024 for herself.
The inability of the 4th Gen acts to dislodge such people is showing its weakness, which draws a dangerous cloud to the future of KPop.
