Based on August 27th promotion + actual number of views : 48.62M

    Actual number of views: 6.91M

    Ad views: 41.71M

    1. There are a lot of ad views

    2. I wondered why NewJeans had low views compared to their popularity, but turns out it’s normal…

    3. In fact, a K-pop MV is considered good if it exceeds 10 million views in the first week

    4. Their bubble is crazyㅋㅋㅋㅋ

    5. I’m jealous that they have so much money to promote it

    6. This is a single for the US market but if you’re not a fan, most people won’t know that the song was released

    7. SM is really weak overseas

    8. I wonder how much they paid for 40 million views.. By the way, a new song came out?

    9. Wow I’m a bit surprised that they couldn’t even reach 10 million by themselves

    10. I understand why Lee Soo Man dreams of China

  • I do wonder what is the price for a view.

Even my nugu faves bought around 5 million views for one of their comebacks. So it can't be that expensive.

What was the like to view rate? I have seen that 4% likes to views is normal.

views are cheap, especially if you're buying them from certain countries. As for the like to view ratio: it currently has 56,638,951 views and 662K likes which works out to 1.17%.

  • Aespa wants to climp to the top with youtube views just like Blackpink in 2016-2018 when they were competing with Twice. The problem is that Aespa lacks certains things that Blackpink had like : SEA victim complex fans, long hiatus, designated producer, Yg brand and the most important thing.. 4 members tha are not involved in anything, especially in the musical part.

    Hi,

YT ads can range anywhere from $.10 to $.30 per click. If you did 100,000 views, you would spend about $10-$30k.

Based on this metric, SM spent anywhere from $4,171,000 to $12,513,000 USD or

    W5,557,511,247.60 - W16,672,533,742.

More than enough Hotteok to feed the population of Busan.

  • That cannot be right

    Hi,

It does seem like a ton of money right?

Some other numbers to think about:

SM reportedly has a market cap of anywhere from $2.31B-$2.45B in 2023.

In 2022, they had $657M in revenue.

While YouTube pay per click ad #'s aren't fully disclosed, spending that much for ad buys when you have a reported revenue of $657m would seem inline.

  • That cannot be right

Yep, spending 4-12M USD for ads seems way out of line. It takes 1 BILLION Spotify streams to bring in 4M USD in revenue, and this song obviously wont come close to that, plus that figure i believe is just gross revenue, a big chunk of that will go towards expenses.

If i'm spending that kind of money on marketing, i'm not wasting it on one rando single. That money is going towards a coordinated, full scale attempt to penetrate the US market.

  • It's so obvious a lot of groups/solo buy ads. However, I find it weird that JYPE never bought any for Jihyo. Most of the groups that released around same time as Jihyo like Aespa and Somi have over 50 million views in a month. Stay C has more than 30 million views in a month. Jihyo still only has about 16 million views but all of the mentioned groups above have fewer real views than Jihyo under that weekly youtube chart. Even Misamo has less real views than Jihyo under that weekly youtube chart but they are over 50 million views after a month. Why buy ads for Misamo but not for Jihyo?
