It’s catchy, it’s chill, they hit a really sweet nostalgia note with all the garage influences, and it’s uncomplicated. It stands out amongst a load of recent offerings that feel more try hard.
Why is NewJeans' music so addicting?

i was thinking about it and imo it's a mix of these:
vocal chops ostinatos + synths arpeggio
clear, not overly processed vocals
simple melodies reminiscent of 00s music
short song length + "sudden" endings which stimulates replay
lack of unnecessary rap sections
sonically sparse verses (not much going on, easy to listen)

easy theory
a TON of kpop songs are built to be very repetitive and addicting
thing is, whatever group you want to stan, you'll get addicted to
it just so happens that more people want to stan popular groups, so they find their music more "addicting"
ive always said and will say this, popular groups could release remixed fart sounds and millions of people would somehow get addicted to it
and its theoretically pretty possible too
just that smaller groups wont get away with it

It's not hard to understand. All of their music has very strong, easily defined, simple melodies.
It's the strength of their production in being incredibly simple.
Add that they generally steer away from harsher instrumentation and it's not difficult to get why they're "addictive"
Everything else is just in service to the beats they're laced over.
