Short songs aren’t necessarily what go viral on TikTok. Longer songs get viral just as much. It depends whether they have a good part that goes viral or not. If we’re going to put blame on a platform then streaming sites like Spotify and others should be the culprit with their charts. Shorter songs just happen to be easier to finish for the fans streaming like robots.
While on TikTok, it’s hard to almost impossible for big fandoms to make million videos of their favs song if it doesn’t already have an addictive part that lures people in. That’s why I find it the true measurement of a song that is liked by many people.
Tiktok just like all social media has made k-pop more accessible of course so yeah, it's a good thing

no look at what k-pop has done to music, not even k-pop, western songs like abcdfu, all those nursery rhyme songs, low effort, tik tok baity, i want to get famous quickly songs have ruined my life, and i blame tik tok and i blame gen z too. k-pop music is not good anymore all because of tik tok we need to ban tik tok we need to ban it. love tik tok though, love scrolling.
The song has to be appealing in the first place to get worked into the algorithm. People have to like it enough to use it as a sound on TikTok and people have to like it enough to listen to it off TikTok.
It also shined some light on old songs that people wouldn't have known about. Modernized versions of old songs resulted from this.
It's neither good nor bad. It's just part of music's evolution.
