KPop-stans what do you think of JPop getting more and more super super similiar with KPop these days?

  • I randomly thought of this while listening to a song that came out yesterday

    Some songs as example:

  • It doesn't tho. There is a new segment of Jpop which is trying to be like Kpop. But the original Jpop still exists out there. Johnnys and AKB groups are still there, Exile is still there, Vocaloids are still there, solo singers are still there. I don't know why yall are being so dramatic about everything.

  • I just want them to romanize their songs titles and releases their discographies on streaming services

Overall I find JP music to be more interesting, rich and diverse compared to KR which I find to be overly homogeneous. It could get more traction elsewhere if they were actually released

  • Exile is still there

Well, some of their latest releases aswell as the music some members produced for other acts will proof you wrong

Examples (group songs and songs produced for other groups):

  • releases their discographies on streaming services

Most are on Spotify tho (unless you search for some very old song like 80s and before) and if Johnny's realises how dumb they are they will probably put more than just 3 of their artists on Spotify (for now there are only Travis Japan, ARASHI and KAT-TUN which is better tha nothing haha *cry*)

If you need to find some new songs, here is my playlist (don't get confused by the create-day of this playlist, I had to copy all songs to a new playlist cause my old one wasn't working no more)

  • I am not sure what you're trying to prove here. Exile was always making contemporary music, they never had a certain Jpop identity.

In late 2000s they were doing western boy band concepts

    EXILE / 24karats STAY GOLD - YouTube

    EXILE / ふたつの唇 - YouTube

Then in early and mid 2010s they switched to party song genre that was popular at the time (Pitbull, Florida, David Guetta)

三代目 J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE / 「R.Y.U.S.E.I.」Music Video - YouTube

三代目 J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE / O.R.I.O.N. - YouTube

Then the House came along and guess what? Exile did it too, even collaborated with western House DJs

EXILE TRIBE / HIGHER GROUND feat. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike from HiGH & LOW ORIGINAL BEST ALBUM - YouTube

And finally they didn't miss out on the current wave of chill R&B and Pop soul either

PSYCHIC FEVER from EXILE TRIBE - 'Choose One' Official Music Video - YouTube

Btw, the very first song you linked is very similar to this one, which is something from 7 years ago:

三代目 J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE / J.S.B.DREAM - YouTube

So if this Kpopification is really happening, we're way too late to discussing it.

  • Jkpop groups (that's what called Korean and Japanese companies joint release groups in Japan) still occupy a fairly small scale. For example, Johnnys has groups that release more modernized and Kpop-like songs, and has groups that release classic Jpop songs. Everyone can find one that appeals to them. I guess that's why Jpop's diversity makes it separate them from Kpop anyway.

Like, this song of Kinpuri combines modern tunes with classical Japanese tunes.
