both
both is better
longetivity for me means thats it is still popular and ongoing
Longevity.
Longevity 100%. Thats the main reason why people like Michael Jackson or the Beatles are considered to be in a league of their own. Longevity is much harder to achieve than a massive peak. The right song, the right exposure and marketing and luck can get you a massive peak. Longevity is purely about how much people like your stuff. No one will play a song 10 years later if they dont really like it. Even more, it has to be so memorable that people will think "oh I wanna play that song" 10 years after release.
Peak - Hype
Longevity - Legacy
both.
massive peak.
Getting 100 million streams in 6 weeks is more impressive than doing it in 6 months. It means more than just fans are listening.
Fans can zombie-stream anything to 100 million over time. Keeping it in the top 100 due to fandom, not actual popularity.
Longevity only matters if you can stay in the top 10. Top 50 not so much.
Especially with Melon losing lots of users, it's not the accomplishment it used to be. It's why 1 million ULs in the first 24 hours is hardly achieved anymore.
longevity.
Very few can get both but that's the desired result for most
Insane longevity for me. Peaks are nice, but it's the songs that have staying power that prove their status.
