Lemme put on a tinfoil hat and process this...
In the future, there would only be HYBE, KAKAO and CJ E&M Music in KPOP. From the way I've seen it- the BIG 3 is over from the moment LSM sold his stakes and HYBE became the majority shareholder in SM. The Kpop landscape will change and there would be no legacy anymore. It will be like the US wherein we only have SONY, UMG and Warner Music. These behemoths control the market share in the pop music scene with top music artists in the world under their subsidiaries and distributing their music. And I feel like, this is what's gonna happen to Kpop.
JYP have Twice and Stray Kids under them that's profitable. Then we have YG, who only have BP and Treasure that's profitable. Twice is past their peak and SK needs to enlist once they've reached a certain age. BP destiny is unknown and Treasure cannot carry YG and they also have to enlist later on. It's only a matter of time until a certain corporation whether KAKAO or CJ&E acquire JYP and YG.
I might not like HYBE personally and the way they run things sometimes, but I give props to them for being one step ahead in the game and overseeing things and the future of Kpop. It's clear that HYBE is modelling after UMG who have been handling different groups under their different subsidiaries and all are doing well digitally and physically. They also have the Biggest Group in the world with them.
We have yet to see what's gonna happen for Kpop in the future, but it is clear that the poised Big 3 is over and soon their legacy will be forgotten, just like how no one remembers MOTOWN anymore...
All things come to an end eventually, and it's time for people come to terms with it.
