'NewJeans' Hani suddenly sparked controversy on Twitter
Hani being 'sucked' by Vietnamese ultranationalist netizens
Hani, a member of 'NewJeans', was 'sucked up' (receiving malicious comments from netizens for making unreasonable claims) by some Vietnamese communist-inclined netizens, causing controversy among netizens abroad and in Korea.

Vietnamese netizens with a propensity for ‘communism’ recently tweeted about Hani’s nationality, saying, “I hope Hani is removed from ‘NewJeans’.”

Vietnamese netizens said, "Hani's parents are Vietnamese, but since they immigrated to Australia, they are anti-communist. Since Hani was born in Australia, he is not very good at Vietnamese either. He made unreasonable claims, saying, “He is a traitor” and “Hani should also follow Vietnam (communism).”

Other netizens commented, “Hani is still in her teens. He refuted netizens who posted slanderous posts about Hani, saying, “Isn’t the Vietnamese doing too much?” and “Do all Vietnamese people have to support the government?”
South Korean netizens who saw Hani's slang words on Twitter also said, "Why is it anti-communism that I emigrated?" NewJeans member Hani was born in 2008 and has dual citizenship from Australia and Vietnam. Hani passed the audition in Melbourne in October 2019 and debuted as a member of "NewJeans" in July of last year after working as a trainee for about two years from 2020.

On the other hand, on the 28th of last month, ADOR, the agency of ‘NewJeans’, said, “We have started legal action against the authors of defamatory, insulting, false facts, and malicious slanderous posts about ‘NewJeans’.”
ADOR, a subsidiary of 'NewJeans', is a label under HYBE and a subsidiary founded by Min Hee-jin, who was a HYBE CBO in 2021.
