Article: Lee Soo Man's 'emperor contract' lasts until 2092 "promised 50 million won a year for 10 years even if he doesn't work"

    1. [+325, -3] As expected from the creator of the original slave contract ㅋㅋ

    2. [+225, -3] Soo Man-ah, are you serious... Just step back at this point and enjoy the riches of your life. So you got to have your cake and eat it too all this time and now you're sad that you only get to eat?... You've had enough, it's time to step back. And please get rid of these dirty contracts you've set up as well... ㅠ

    3. [+219, -23] Soo Man-ah, where are your donations to Ukraine and Turkey

    4. [+126, -6] This is a straight up scam

    5. [+51, -3] These contracts are basically set up so that everyone else is his worker bee and he gets to eat up all the profits. I acknowledge that he's built an impressive company but he can't keep a straw in it for this long. If SM cannot function without Lee Soo Man, perhaps there's no need for such a company anymore.

    6. [+37, -0] The problem with Lee Soo Man's methods is... that as a shareholder, he needs to wait for his money by being issued dividends on the profits, but he's instead been using obscure contracts like this to ensure that he makes out with all the money without the usual process of dividends...

    7. [+37, -8] I agree that he's greedy but honestly SM is his product and he should be able to take all that money if he wants to. Put yourself in his shoes... how many of you would so easily give up all that he's built up? Don't kid yourself by thinking you'd be a better person by hating on him. As long as he's done everything through legal channels, I can see how someone can get to this point.

    8. [+29, -6] We are not a communist society. His own artists are making enough to purchase buildings worth millions, why shouldn't he get to make his own money too?

    9. [+25, -2] If these contracts weren't illegally drawn up, then our democracy says that he's allowed that money as the contract states. Our world would not function if contracts were terminated based on public sentiment.

    10. [+24, -1] He won't even be alive up to 2092... just donate the rest of your money and go...

    11. [+19, -3] I find it funny at all that people expect Lee Soo Man to just throw aside a company he's spent his whole life building. How many of you would throw such an achievement away?? Should be grateful that he hasn't passed it all down to his children~

    12. [+16, -2] What does he even plan to do with all that money at such an old age? Soo Man-ah, start giving back more.

    13. [+15, -1] Feels like Bang Shi Hyuk and Kakao are the fools in this scenario. This is a dying company and they're trying to put it on life support.

    14. [+10, -1] As long as all the taxes are being properly paid, I don't care how they draw up these contracts among themselves and how they make their money. One of the main themes of Hallyu is success by the bootstraps... Korea needs to stop treating its rich like criminals.

    15. [+8, -0] A contract that pays him until the year 2092... there is no end to his greed

LSM must be feeling so betrayed right now.

  • I'd say I'm surprised but it's really not that surprising

Once you first get a taste of that kind of money and power,it's game over.

Why is it surprising when he founded the whole thing? I bet to him SM is just like his other child born out of money and hard work.

  • I think some people call it a "pension" but it seems to be something that is normal in South Korea for retired Founders at least.

But SME's problems isn't LSM but those quacks in charge that thought it was a good idea for aespa members to visit the Nursing Home to perform with geriatrics and charging the public for it.

Don't get me wrong, I don't support SME or aespa but even an outsider like me can spot how screwed up a company is when you take a Million Album selling Rookie Group away from doing schedules that would make even more money. Not only for the Company but for the members too.

The reason the SME is in this current sh*t is due to the quacks in charge, it's an old saying that proves to be true, never do business with family

Not just that. Also that incident where Aespa were sent to perform at LSM's former high school with NO security or proper personnel. The market is too competitive now for SM to stay someone's vanity project, even if that someone is the founder. I can see how he lost support with board members.

It was inane because Security would not react to something that wasn't threatening AND the claims of breaching Security came from Fans whom we know are just garbage at Idol Events such as these.

Because it became an issue "after the fact" when fans revealed how they were able to get Photos close to the members, remember those filth claim to be fans.

[sarcasm]Anyway, the Security were at fault for being so lax at an Event, even if they were just Kids, they should have beat the sh*t out of them, I mean, isn't that what their so called fans want the Security to do? :P

Alternatively, they should have sacked aespa's managers for being so pathetic for not hiring Security that would have no problems kicking kids asses :P

    [/sarcasm]

The reality of the incident was Fans claiming that members were uncomfortable when we all know that Fans were the problem from the start.
