What Really Is The Reason Why Being In The Same Company With A Big Group Mean So Much?

  • Like I just thought about it.

A group debuting in the same company as a BTS or BLACKPINK or TWICE...like okay..A new group is debuting from the company, but that group isn't BTS or Twice etc, so why does it mean so much to debut in the same company as them???

Like they get promoted so much as being in the same company, but its like "so what, and???? What's bout it"??

I know the answer already, but I wanna hear other people opinions, since it just popped up in my head

Well the first answer is simple: money.

A huge group means that the company likely has revenue and can therefore afford to promote other groups well.

Second, it almost guarantees the immediate anticipation for a new group and establishes a dedicated fanbase, who will be anticipating the group.

Third, it's easy press for the company. The media will already be interested in seeing if the success of the bigger group can be replicated and the articles and posts comparing the bigger group to the newer group generates publicity, which generates interest and money.

Even if the newer group doesn't do nearly as well as the most popular one, the chances for having longevity/becoming well known are a lot higher than they would be if they debuted with a lesser known company.

  • If we go by the artist themself than sometimes its just to be close to someone you admire

As for example on Produce 101 Japan someone asked Wataru Takahashi (now member of the boygroup OCTPATH) how it was to be a trainee under BigHit when he was in the company for about 2 years and if he ever had a chance to train with BTS, since this seems to be a big deal for some people when they hear someone had trained at BigHit. Wataru said he was mostly training in different rooms so he barly ever saw people other than the other trainees or his dance and vocal teachers and that he actually didn't minded it to not see BTS but he liked it when he had a chance to train with them.

I also know from Produce 101 Japan that some people really want this where they can be close to their idols. I mean many people on season 2 said they only aplied after watching season 1 and than fell in love with JO1 who are the winner group.

I think a lot people allover KPop have a similiar feeling. I forgot who but there was a boy in YG who only auditioned to YG cause he loves G Dragon xD

And the same happend when A.C.E's Byeongkwan was a trainee under JYP for a bit since he is friends with Yugeom and Yugeom just told BK so many positive things about the company that he decided to become an idol just cause of Yugeom xD I mean it's not 100% clear if Yugeom was the only reason, but BK stated at least that he joined JYP after he asked Yugeom how it is to be a trainee back when Yugeom didn't had debuted and BK said the words made him want to join JYP lol ... Acording to Byeongkwan Yugeom just said "JYP is fun" and that was enough for BK to go to JYP xD
