It's competing in an empty house, literally against 3 month old songs like Nude and Antifragile, 5 month old songs like Afterlike and Hybe Boy, and a couple rando soloists and rappers. If it were going up against AL when AL was released, there would be no PAKs for it, it wouldnt even chart #1.

People seem to underhestimate Even Horizon duh. It's literaly a mega hit. Sleeping on melon number one place for I don’t known how long. That's why even OMG took time to outchart it. And Hype boy also keept on rsising. Also Ditto went against Christmas songs for that first place.

It's not because there are less releases that Ditto wouldn't have stayed first. I just think that during end year time there are less listeners on melon and because more novelty and more competition brings in more listeners. In this regard we don't really know how Ditto would have performed against more competion. Its all spéculation.

So in conclusion, I wouldn’t say it was a 'empty house' but yes there was less competion than lets say in summer. But the song was also meant for the season duh, it was no Hype boy material but just a chill wintery track. But the success is crazy and it's dominating EHoriazon, Hype biy and even OMG.

And even against more competion, NJ actually won the war. Hype boy is outcharting all the summer releases. NJ defeated BP, SNSD and Ive soooo.

They wouldn't have been promoting it so much if it was just a fan song. It was a song meant to top the charts.

The Ditto popularity is deserved because the song is good but ultimately it’s because NewJeans is THE moment and this is the public showing their love for the group, including globally. Whatever they put out right now will do great. I hope their team handles this opportunity well!
