Is Aespa really going be the only 4th gen gg that debuted as adults?

  • I mean I expected YG new gg to be adults since they were in the work for so long. I thought by now the candidates are mostly 18 and above.

But nop, apparently there is someone born in 2010....

Among the popular groups, 4th gen seem to be the worst when it comes to debuting too many minors.

  • g idle is not 4th gen though

edit: I don't think we have their ages confirmed yet

Ok I will choose ILY:1 as my second Pokemon then. Anticipate their comeback in 2 days! Their maknae was almost 19 years old during their debut :swing-pepe:

  • I was wondering the same thing.

    Is this the future now?

Doesn't it kind of also impact the groups ability to tour and do concerts as well? Like aren't there greater legal, ethical and educational issues with minors touring?

Debuting at 17/18 they'd only have to wait a couple of years for big tours which is normal anyhow

but yeah it's questionable what the groups with 14 year olds are gonna do. and yes the sheer amount of groups coming out with more than ur standard maknae are coming out in drones.

the ratio of minors to adults is really wide, the group UPTOYOU is debuting an 11 y/o who was very obviously rigged in as she jumped several spots for quite literally no reason because who the hell votes for an 11 y/o

yeah the ratio of minors to adults is becoming increasingly worrisome

even in very young groups maknaes are the most popular or people literally vote for the young ones in survival shows

This one was a very obvious rigging, as she went from 19th to 4th without going viral or anything. She was absolutely added to get articles written about the group, and it worked. There's weirdo fluffy pieces/articles about how ''the youngest idol to debut'' about her not even seeing it as a negative

edit: btw the group is under afreecatv if you need more proof this was done just for buzz without caring if its negative buzz

especially when you have read about some the type of content that AfreecaTV has, then it is very disturbing that people voted for an 11 year old.

  • I've said it before numerous times that for the most part Korean female idols have an "expiry period"

there are just not that many idols performing and releasing new music post (30???)

and of those not many that release music as a group and of those not many that actually succeed

thus being a female idol one needs to make the most of the limited time period in order to earn $$$

like I said if wonyoung (or any 13 and some 14 year old idols) debuted in a regular GG from the beginning they'd be younger than say Jisoo/Irene/Nayeon when they debuted - that's the equivalent of an entire 7 year contract periods worth of potential earnings.

I'm not saying whether it's right or wrong - it is what it is
