so I watched a couple performances and

  • There aren't that many relatively newer groups out there that can PERFORM. It is a shame but what can you do about it. I think overall the best performances were from the verterans and I guess that's to be expected.

When it comes to the newer groups.

I am definitely keeping an eye on the LSFM girls though. That MMA intro gagged me. I had chills and they serve FACE which is a plus. They got their concept down. Only thing was the embarrassment at the end with the gun. I kept waiting for it to do something.

Conceptually and musically GIDLE did great, I got chills too, not a big fan of their two most popular songs I'll admit but they made me bop to it during their performances. I do wish their faces were more animated though. The vacant stares on some of the members when they all got together to perform bugged me a bit.

When it comes to IVE, I'm not really a huge fan of their performances. Their performances are "pretty" I guess you can say, soft and pretty but nothing that captures me. Love dive is a good song though so congrats to them for having it. But these girls will need to find a way to capture the audience. Music only gets you so far. You need to be a PERFORMER too. I did notice that Yujin girl. She was the best at expressing the song and concept.

NMIXX. I can't say much except I feel really sorry for them having to be hitting these high notes dancing like that. Neither does the song really allow them to show off their vocals since it's so choppy. Some members seem like good performers but I can't get over the sound for me to really enjoy the performance.

Speaking of the sound distracting me too much from the performance. I think it was the same with Stray Kids and Treasure. I do wish their rap line and their music would give me something other than aggression. But they do it so often it is starting to seem like their style. I'm not really into it though.

TXTs music is great but when it comes to performance, they're pushing concept and story too much in my opinion.

With New Jeans you can tell they are a newly debuted group. They struggle finding the camera. Also what bugged me about their MMA performance, is they did not seem rehearsed either when it came to their dance breaks. By that I mean they were not in sync. But they brought it for MAMA. They did a better job 100%. When it comes to expressing themselves they do good job being sassy with it. So I do hope they work more on choreography.

    Approved the thread.
  • I totally agree about IVE. I love their songs but their performances are boring.

  • I didn't. I remember when BTS would grace these shows with their presence, and you'd have to sit through all these hours and irrelevant groups, but at the end of the day, it was worth it, because you could see them put on these amazing performances live. Just like those in attendance.

Now? I just watched J-Hope's performances and acceptance speech on youtube. Good enough for me, no one has the time to watch kpop without BTS involved. Well, except for the niche kpop fans that remain, and other then post here or tweet, what else do they do?

  • these award shows have gotten boring. not too many great performers nowadays, first day mama was so disappointing.

  • 4th gen stage presence is horrendous.

itzy and lsrf did very great though

  • Agreed with alot. Specially keeping my eye on LSFM. Their potential is high. I loved their MMA stage. The MAMA one wasn't as amazing but the camera was also gawd awful and I couldn't even see half of the dance break. They were definitely done dirty

...I don't even know where to start. How out of touch can a person be??

same, BTS really bring it every time

  • The camera shots ruined it for me.

Personally I don't really enjoys bg performance overall compared to ggs.

  • LSFM and Treasure were the best performances at this year's MAMA. LSFM has the edge over Treasure in facial expressions but it is difficult for the camera to focus on faces when there is a 10 member group.

  • LSF are definitely the best performers of the new 4th girl groups for now, Nmixx have potential but I feel that they don't match each other as well as LSF for now. LSF just exude pro attitude on stage.

New Jeans are charming but you can tell they're newbies, lol they were almost comically bad at finding the camera at MAMA. Definitely have potential though, their dancing was much better than I expected.

Last would be Ive, they give good face and are charming as long as the camera focuses on that, but full body camera just shows their dancing weakness and low energy. Every performance I've seen of them with no close up looked really lackluster, their not a performer group.

  • best boy group - treasure

    best girl group - lsrf

No other performers came close to them.

  • Yet out of all the performers it's Gaeul that went viral. Again.
