definitely not my faves all should get your faves under control tho lol (joking ofc i don't think the industry taking a turn for the worst is because of idols writing their own music. personally, i think it's a mixture of things that have little to do with the idols but i can't speak for all idols cause some of them just be fucking up)

Confused right now. Being a artists means you make art, kpop idols are artists and they have a lot of talents including song writing, writing songs is a form of art.

If you dont like self produced songs I don't understand why you listen to music. Idols have a right to share their talents and writings with their fans.

Lee Jieun only writes music occasionally and lets others to compose the music for her hits. None of her major hits (Through the Night, BBiBBi, Blooming, etc) are compoed by her. (Eight was mostly composed by Jang Yijung/El Capitxn, with Suga writing the rap) She mostly writes lyrics only

i do find it weird though when fans parading their fave as an amazing composer, when either their fave only writes the lyrics OR is listed as the 4th/5th composer for most of the songs

Disagree. I don't see it as inherently more or less valuable. They can be hit or miss just like with any external songwriter/producer. The companies' inhouse engineers are ultimately responsible for the final sound regardless of who writes it anyway.

In most cases you'll find the idols names at the end of a list. At that point it's "I changed an 'a' to a 'the', gimme my credit". The main songwriters are listed first. It's rare for any idols to be in that position.

Off the top of my head recently I only recall Bobby having tracks that are only written by him and without professional involvement.

I think Mino's last album was only written and composed by him too.
