RE: Does Kpop last year feel more exciting with Aespa smashing?

  • As a biased Aespa stan last year was better for me considering the ridiculous content drought we had for them this year.

    That said, this year was amazing overall with all the storylines;

    • The redemption of Gidle and Itzy
    • Blackpink's return
    • The chaos of LSF's debut and their subsequent rise
    • Ive's dominance
    • New Jeans and their triple/quadruple debut just smashing everyone
    • NMixx and massive disparity between their talent and the reception of their songs

    Not to mention Twice, RV and all the other groups that smashed again this year.

  • I think 2022 has been more interesting sheerly for:

    - the quick way the frontrunner has changed every week for gg.

    - the way gg are now moving like bg (sales volume and/or sales success w/o chart success)

    - the rise of groups with more international success than Korean success

    - the rise and success of noise groups (NCT, SKZ, Ateez)

    - the volatility of 4th group leaders

    - 2nd and 3rd gen groups still disrupting (people say they're over but they still shift a tremendous amount of units)

    - 3rd gen soloists
