if SM managed Exo/Red Velvet better they could have been bigger than BTS and Blackpink

    Approved the thread.
  • I’m sure whoever said this isn’t even a reveluv or exol, just setting them up, if it is then the person is delusional lol try reaching twice level first

  • False, sm tried to push exo globally I remember they had western interviews and global promo but people started moving towards nct and BTS . It was a good decision to just let members do solo works. And RV? I think they suit SK better, no Sm group has potential to be big in West that's sad but true.

  • I'm pretty sure that was a set up

  • SM didn't have a problem with managing Exo and RV, that's not why they aren't more popular in the US, they just didn't try at all. SM just had other plans like to focus on China for Exo which imo was smart. When BTS arrived in 2017-2018 I think it was a tad too late for Exo to also go and start their career over in the West.

In RV's case I feel SM didn't have faith in them. Its a shame, they should've at least tried Bad boy was catching steam in the west among kpop fans and Wendy is fluent in English. Now they realize gg can do well and are making up time with Aespa.

  • Bts went to American shows and interviews because of their popularity, not the other way around. I’m sorry to break it to all the delusional people but that wasn’t an option for exo. Maybe they would’ve reached twice level with some more push but nothing like Bts or bp like let’s be real for a sec

  • Some Exols are still living in 2016 when Bts was starting to catch traction and when exo still had somewhat of a chance, Bts is too big rn, no way exo could ever replicate that

True they had no connections, it was impossible to be there without demand unlike groups these days.

Pls stop setting EXO and RV up! Are you even a reveluv or exol??

  • Some Exo stans on this forum are shockingly delusional. It’s honestly eye-opening

  • sm don't want their group to become too big and out of their reach so that they can control them easier

  • SM had a plan for EXO for the Asian market, particularly China and never really pushed them west. Sure they toured America and did some interviews but SM always focused EXO more on the Asian market than west. No one can really say what would have happened if SM had changed focus but tbh I doubt they would have been that big. The people saying this are trolls setting them up and as usual people fall for it and freak out.

BTS were always targeted to the western market. Even in their early days before they had much of a fandom they were constantly going to America and promoting themselves/performing there. They've got heaps of early videos to prove it (just for those who try to deny it. There's nothing wrong with it, it obviously worked).

  • Possible. Red Velvet definitely could have competed with songs like Bad Boy.

Good time for my fave fanwar anecdote. When One Direction announced their hiatus in 2016, Exo-l's responded by throwing twitter parties, taunting Directioners, saying EXO would be taking over now and introducing the world to talent. Directioners (who were basically the prototype-Army) retaliated by token stanning BTS. They trended everything BTS did, streamed their music, made fan art, the works. And it was a factor in the buzz they started to build from then. So in an indirect way, Exo-l's are partly responsible for BTS becoming the biggest boygroup in the world.

1D dying only for BTS took over as EXO-Ls just watch is such a hilarious image to me
