Hello! So, I see this question floating around a lot and wanted to see what people on here thought. What do you think counts as "noise music"? Is it literally any song, including ballads, since all songs are technically made of noise? Are there no "noisy" songs in K-Pop, and K-Pop fans don't actually know what it means? Is it girl crush songs and concepts? Is it experimental music? Something else? Share your opinion below with examples. Be respectful, and have a great day/night!

I think noise music outside of kpop is its own genre and has been around for a while, it’s not an insult in that context
But when kpop fans talk about noise music they usually mean abrasive and harsh elements, like synths, shouting and drums mixed very loudly. It’s almost always a negative thing
To me, it doesn’t mean much at all and says more about the person saying it than the song

I agree with this. I don't really have anything to add, you said it all.

Kidding for me
(These are OR cases so it’s noise even if one of it is true)
1. Unexpected sounds…repeated melody motifs that’s unpleasant or sounds that you don’t expect to hear in popular music
2. Heavily auto tuned and electronic sounding vocals
3. Incoherent guitar riffs
Another wonderful definition.

Music with no recognizable rhythm or melody. So some Merzbow albums are not noise to me, but some ambient albums are.
It can also be an element within other music (like noise pop), wherein it refers to "harsh" sonic elements like feedback or a blown-out production.
I will also entertain the tag for music that sounds "random", either because of a total lack of repetition or because it uses polymeters to a degree that there is no stability.

yeah this user knows their stuff and is describing true noise music, not just slightly loud kpop

I think the term is being a bit overused in the kpop community, as i see everything that goes a little wilder with the edm sounds called "noise music" (in a negative way), even if the song objectively doesn't really sound incoherent or badly produced or anything of the sort..

I refuse to ever take that person seriously.

In kpop, music with random noises and that sound messy and screaming/raptalking in a loud way
I can understand this definition. I support.
