I think users should be rewarded akorns for successful threads

  • For example, if someone has a thread where only two other people respond, it's clear they aren't creating much discussion, but if a thread has several different users who respond, it would be an indicator the thread was generating more views for the site itself - and I think users should be rewarded for this.

    My idea:

+1 akorn for every three users who engage with a thread

+10 akorns for threads that make it past 4 pages

There are probably some loopholes with this, such as people using taglists to have their friends respond, but I think that would also mean nicer users who are likely to have more friends and positive engagement with the site will receive compensation for making AKP a more kind place. You could also enforce a rule where threads that utilize taglists don't receive extra akorns.

    Thots? superyeah  Ves

  • that encourages spam, i think.

    i like the idea, though!

  • Hmm, not bad! I'll need to discuss with staff though. There are things to iron out too, like ow would we find these threads?

The way I didn't see this reply because zuzu distracted me with Lisa :pepe-cut:

I'm not sure about the technical side of it, but sites like reddit use filters so posts with the highest engagement (replies, likes) are shown at the top of the page.

What if, the site started to filter threads similarly so the ones with the highest level of users engaging with it (comments, reactions, visits) appear at the top of the individual sections (k-lounge, lounge, etc.,) ? all i can do in computer science is code a triangle so sorry if none of this is actually applicable or doesn't make sense :drinktears: but maybe the 3-5 threads listed at the top would be awarded (since I think there are only about that many successful threads a day). I'm not sure if the AKP site itself could be programmed to give out those awards, or if it's something mods would have to do themselves - kind of like what you already do this with the threadmaker of the month award.

Lord I can't even successfully ward off spambots with my code, so don't expect it from me either! :pepecry:

And threadmaker of the month was not auto rewarded, LOL. @ripia compiled those thread stats. Stats are his nerd power

i didn't word that last part properly lmao sorry ;(

I meant it can be like what you do with the threadmaker of the month in the sense you have some mod judge the stats

but i get if it's not an applicable idea :eyes: i'll come up with something better if staff doesn't like this one :cursing:

  • Clemon

Selected a post as the best answer.
  • :pepe-use-head: I'm surprised more people don't do this honestly, LMAOOOOOO

ngl, i once needed akorns to buy a new badge, so i just used the search bar to find all my threads and gave myself best answer in each of them ;(

  • it's good for the lower classes to be selfish :| the term you're looking for is self preservation :cursing:

i winced very hard and judgmentally at your 53,567 akorns just now btw :tea-bee:

    self preservation???

I never realised akorns was part of maslow's hierarchy of needs...

you got me...whatever am I do to...

  • Then click bait threads will have a field day.

For example, throw a bait dissing BTS and there is good probability of high engagement on the thread.

    Easy to game that scheme.
