It’s not really a surprising development considering that the pre-promotion period has gotten longer and longer. Go back to mid-3rd gen and lots of groups didn’t even release mv teasers. More content pre-drop clearly helps building hype.

imagine if the songs newjeans released didnt get enough attention and the debut chart performance was bad, then everyone wouldve blamed the same strategy and be like the company is trying to sabotage their debut.

promoting a small part before comeback isn't unusual, in fact a lot of groups do it this days with tiktok releases, it also used to be a thing before when groups went to variety shows more

It worked for newjeans because their music is considered unique in current kpop scene, it was a risky move I don't think it'll work for every group. Lsrfm's teasers helped them a lot in attracting non fans.
