I don't think that deepfakes are bad and can be used just for fun but in the wrong hands, then it can become a horrible thing. I'm pretty sure the creators of the apps didn't intend deepfakes to be used maliciously.
I used a complex deepfake app and man it's hard and it can take forever and destroy your PC if you're not careful. If you ever decided to do a deepfake thing, I recommend it's something under 60 seconds. I've learned from experience...It was also creepy because it was literally rewriting the girl's face and putting on another girl's face lmao....

Exactly. Any digital application can be used in a malicious way, even if it's something innocent like Minecraft. Toxic people, hackers, pedos, pervs (not in a joking way), etc. exist and with them, nothing online and even offline is safe. It's because of deepfake apps' dark past that people say that everything deep fake is bad.
