(Poll) What exactly is a ballad? Are these exo songs ballads?

Universe is 100% a soft rock ballad

A slow or mid-tempo song,it usually has a softer melody and conveys lots of emotion.

I feel like it's slower, but mid-tempo has a lot of variance for me, like I wouldn't consider Love Again a ballad.

Any song that is slow tempo and has emotion. I have also noticed that there's more emphasis on the vocals rather than the music.

the actual literary definition i'm not sure of as it isn't simply black or white with no shades of grey, but in regards to the general definition; just any slow sentimental song
