Do y'all know which is the most streamed 4th Gen group on Melon?

  • It's still IZ*ONE. They disbanded for more than a year, and they are still No.1. If only they didn't disband, they probably would continue that streak even more, maybe even reach 1bil.

    The doors they opened

Also, looking at X1 numbers and considering they only existed for like a month or something, I have zero doubt they would have been the top 4th Gen BG in Korea if they didn't disband.

  • wow..the wall tho

    :itzy2:

  • Maybe.

Maybe it's because everyone say that 4th gen BG are not succesful in streams at all, and ITXY has Dalla Dalla and other songs that were performing rather good. This is why i'm kinda shocked TXT has overall more streams. Looks like BGs are not hopeless after all :txt25:

You can actually check out the streams here

As you can see, Dalla Dalla literally has 164mil, while TXT's highest is Cant You See Me at 43.6mil. But as you scroll down, for non title tracks TXT's B-sides do have higher streams which probably make up for a higher overall average. TXT also has slightly more songs.

This isn't a drag to ITZY or TXT or any group in general, but the trend I see is that GGs have very high streams for title tracks, but BGs have more streams for B-sides compared to GGs. Like even my nugu faves Day6 have more B-side streams than ITZY (I use them because same company so can compare)

  • I agree, gg title track tends to popular with gp so the stream is really high but there's huge gap with their b-sides stream. While BG (idk about other bg, in this case I only know txt), majority relies on fandom streaming but fandom tends to stream a whole album instead focus only on title track.

Wdym, Day6 has GP and fandom support. if Day6 nugu, txt even more nugu if the measurement based only on melon stream :cryingk:

You know funny enough, Day6 and TXT has actually roughly the same number of total streams

Both have 606mil. But there are some differences

I might be wrong about this because I'm google translating this

    For Day6

    pasted-from-clipboard.png

    For TXT

    pasted-from-clipboard.png

Day6 has higher number of 1) Max viewers, 2) Most streamed song, 3) Sum of viewers, almost x2. But the streams are about the same. Day6 also has more ULs

This probably coincides with what you said, that Day6 maybe have more "GP support" because they have more viewers, but TXT has a more dedicated fandom to stream entire full albums because despite the lower number of viewers they manage to pull off as many streams. Day6 has way way WAY less physical albums compared to TXT as well.

TXT B-sides on average actually have more streams than Day6, maybe a few reasons behind it. Like I mentioned earlier, TXT fandom is dedicated to streaming full albums so the raw numbers per B-side is higher. Day6 B-side streams are good but not as high, even though they are higher than GGs. Another thing to take note also is that Day6 has more songs than TXT so the streams per song is probably less as well. Also, some TXT B-sides like Ghosting/Wishlist which are more popular actually have more streams than some Day6 title tracks.

The numbers really gives a lot of insight on how different fandoms work, whether is it more popular with GP or fandom driven, or BGs vs GGs.

For TXT to pull of such numbers is actually amazing, we can also see that they aren't fully fandom driven like how many people like to paint that narrative on 4th Gen BGs

  • Woww...this is such detail and great analysist. Thank you! :giftr:

Every time I read analysist about melon streams, I noticed how digimon always have high uls. Like...wow...millions uls, while TXT only have 2 songs which has uls over 1M.

It seems like the streaming pattern of each artists indeed pretty much different. For txt, the title track GBGB is 16M and the b-side from the same album around 11M-12M. It's quite balance for a whole album, but no 'hit song' or not even closed to 'viral song' because the tt has average stream :pepe-notes:
