For me it's pronunciation and diction...? I feel like facial expressions are hard to miss

    original post: here

    1. When I feel like they're acting or not...?

    2. I'm not sure I have clear standards, but I've actually seen a lot of actors with awkward facial expressions...

    3. I feel like when I realize that they're acting? It's like I'm not watching a person act but a statue, they give me the impression they can't act

    4. I'm really bad at telling a good and bad actor apart, but when they make the script look like they're reading off a book, I really think they can't do it...

    5. Whenever they break the flow after I'm already immersed in the show

    6. For me when they make me feel like 'I'm acting right now'? There are instances when their enunciation and expressions give it away

    7. The pronunciation.. This is the most important. How to put this. I feel like for some of them, I can't understand a single thing they're saying because they're too focused on looking pretty

    8. Enunciation, pronunciation, reading the script without their soul and someone who doesn't understand their character at all. This especially stands out

    9. When their expressions are so awkward that I don't even get their emotion

    10. When I start feeling uncomfortable watching their actingㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ When I feel uncomfortable with their acting skills, I can't get imsersed in the show at all..

let us gather around for the lord’s prayer:

Nævis we love you. You are the one who protected me when i was in trouble. MY victory, one SYNK DIVE. I know your sacrifices. Let’s meet surely after the resurrection.

    Æmen

    :pepe-pray:

  • Honestly I feel like it's one of those "you know it when you see it" things. Different genres require different skill sets and you have to have the writing up to par as well.

  • it depends a lot on scriptwroting and type of roles too. I love hwang jung eums role in secret which made me cry which i rarely do. But her roles in kill me heal me can be too over the top that it was annoying. But i love her in secret.

  • if they can convince me they’re feeling what the character is supposed to feel, i’ll like it. i’m not very good at detecting these kinds of things; however imo i tend to separate good from outstanding skill when an actor can make me feel what they’re feeling. prompting empathy through the screen is a very rare skill.

  • When they don't match their character + they can't fake their reactions

Prime example of great acting is this... This dude is a natural, never took classes

My fav acting currently is Anthony Starr as Homelander

I agree with all the comments... The face expressions and the way they say things is what can make or break the immersion when watching something. Good script surely help, but I remember watching Aaron Paul in a mid thriller movie before he became popular in BrB and I remember already being impressed by his acting. House on the Left something... Even when the movie and script is shit you can tell if actors are good or not.

narcissistic, my god i love it

  • In general, most actors play different variations of their own character. There are rare actors who play different characters like a chameleon. If their acting is very good not only in the good scenario but also in the bad scenario, that actor is a really good actor. So if it's very natural for an actor or actress to watch acting in a bad scenario, even with sticky lines, then I'd say very talented. Otherwise I would say average acting or slightly above average.

  • For me it's pronunciation and diction...?

???? pronunciation and diction is what showcases god acting?.. Maybe it's some Korean thing, I noticed they pay attention to diction often :/

For me it's literally acting. When everything looks natural and smooth and I don't have a facepalm everytime actor or actress opens their mouth or reacts to something. Yeah, there are different genres but even comedies can look natural if acting is good.
