I don’t see Sakura’s supposed “star power”

    Listen, I know she’s incredibly popular in her Japan and other places and that’s great for her. But other than her admittedly great visuals, she just doesn’t stick out to me? In Iz*one, when people were up in arms about Wonyoung being rigged as center (which is neither confirmed nor denied), they always said “Sakura gave me center vibes from the beginning”….but like, where? I know she was center in Pick Me which led many to believe she was getting center but she didn’t do anything extraordinary in that position.


    In Iz*one, she was a solid performer (but tbh, it would’ve been pretty disappointing if she wasn’t since she has idol experience) but nothing outstanding and wasn’t any more or even less eye-catching than some of her members (Chaewon, Wonyoung, Eunbi, Yena, Chaeyeon occassionally). In LSRFM, she’s pretty easily outshined by Yunjin, Kazuha, and Chaewon on stage and it looks like she wasn’t even planned to be center based on how HYBE marketed them when Garam was still promoting with the group.


    Anyways, this is definitely no hate to Sakura, I still think she’s a great idol overall and is a good performer. I just never saw the hype behind her supposed center-worthiness.

    she suddenly started trending as the trendy look among korean teens started aligning with her looks

    Well yeah, but what’s the difference with Sakura? She’s gorgeous as well, and I’m not saying I expect the same popularity from a Japanese member in Korea, but I’d at least expect her to make more noise in Lesserafim

    Sakura's star power peaked on Nekkoya and it's going downhill after that

    Never got why people like her so much either, but I just scratched it off as people having different tastes I guess.

    The talent isn't there, the variety skill is average at best, hit or miss, I guess people like her personality? But it's not like she's the only "hardworking and nice" person out there either.


    They throw out things like "oh your eyes just naturally draw to her in performances", umm hard no. Idk it's strange. I guess people like what they like

    She's had a massive glowup in all respects though, her performance skills are solid and her visuals are out of this world, LSRFM looks like Itzy and Sakura blends in just fine. She also commands a very loyal fanbase. At least 250k of the group's 420k can be attributed to her, the rest to Chaewon. She is actually more popular in China than Japan.


    Right now i would put her up with the likes of Miyeon, Mina, Heejin and a few others as the very top tier of GG visuals.

    she carries the sales in lsrf. whether you see her star power or not, she's doing great and has a lot of fans supporting her, she doesn't need your fake concern.

    Hwasa is considered ugly by Koreans and she's really meh without make up, but she has charisma! and Confidence and really shines on stage. She blew up on I live alone? I think and was everywhere for a good couple of years. While I agree you have to have the looks to be the most popular instantly, but Hwasa is the perfect example that stage presence and personality to blow up. Chuu is not a visual by korean standards but she is the most popular compared to the visual of loona who is Heejin? iirc and apparently has millions of followers on her youtube thanks to her personality.

    Wonyoung was not as big in izone but I still think she was pretty okay popular among gp so it was not as sudden as you think it was. Idk Jisoo is the visual but it's Jennie who ended going viral on running man and another yjs show. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Yes, I know she was the most pushed, but it's not like she was alone on that show.


    About Sakura's presence. I agree, op. I didn't watch produce but started from their first stage and the first member who got my attention was WY in their debut song stage, then Chaewon due to her cute bob in Violeta and Minju in the swan song. Sakura? a cute girl, but I felt nothing. I noticed i fans hyping her up, but she never did anything to me, so waited and waited when she would wow me, but it never happened the way other members did. There's nothing memorable about her performing.

    Wasn't Sakura considered a visual too along with Minju and Hyewon? Now that the surgeon messed up her nose, her looks went down and she's looks plainer and awkward visual and stage presence wise

    I don't see it either but perhapsbits because we are used to a different beauty standard. She's the opposite of what my eyes are drawn to. Very mid in every aspect but ig a lot of people like that.

    Never got it either. Not in IZ*ONE and especially not in LSFM. Never liked her visuals, her personality always rubbed me the wrong way and her she never did anything on stage. Her dance was always mediocre and I don’t like the expression in her eyes.


    She’s the prime example of how different people‘s preferences can be, to me.

    The only star power this girl has is her fanbase and if she was the star power of iz*one, she's definaly not in LF , Kazuha already took her place

    ofc you can have opinions but it's pointless because there are people who see something in her and hype her up. like me i don't see anything in a lot of it girls too but i don't go makes threads questioning people's taste because i believe there's always a reason if some idols are more popular than the others, maybe i just don't see it but others do. same could apply to you and the rest of people here.

    Her visuals weren't really to my taste either, not that it matters much anymore since HYBE ruined her looks with that nose job. I just know the people who are saying she glowed up in LSRF are sipping a little too strongly on that HYBE coolaid.


    In Iz*One her face looks natural and cute.

    But visuals aside, It was mostly her awkward but sincere personality that I think a lot of people liked.
